Hi everyone, Im Sam from the UK, a newbie member

Relatively new to habanos but trying various brands at the mo and of course getting an eductation from Rob, Ken, Smithy and the guys!

Quick question - do you find that aromas, tastes flavours etc to be better when a full box of cubans is bought or are singles exactly the same? No flavour is "lost" or anything?

Welcome to FOH Sam. Great question. I've been at this for over 3 years. I started buying singles and have moved on to boxes. When "buying" them, I don't believe there is any difference. The singles are pulled from boxes in the same humidor where the unopened boxes are stored. At least, that's what should be the case and I see no reason to not do so.

When you're storing your singles and boxes, there's a slight difference. At least, from what I've experienced. :wink2: All the singles I've kept in various desktop humidors have not lost flavour or aromas, but I do believe they pick up a little something from each other. It's not bad, as each cigar I smoke keeps it's distinct characteristics. Now that I've delved into buying boxes, I find the aromas are a bit more segregated from each other and furthermore, the aging process just seems to work better with the cigars sitting in their original boxes rather than naked in cedar trays or humidors. If you're humidor has a lot of dividers I wouldn't worry about mixing your singles together. If it does concern you, put in some cedar dividers in yourself. Ask fellow BOTL to send you their unused cedar inserts.

Cheers,

Frank
