I'm not an avid fan of Cigar Aficionado but I do enjoy reading them when I'm having a smoke at the local B&M. Their website has a lot of information and the editors' blogs provide for some interesting reads as well.

Their reviews are not the best or even the most consistent, but then again that can be said for many other types of publications. To me, the tasting notes are more informative than the score itself. Movie reviews often trash action movies but that won't stop me from watching them.

Also, when one attempts to create a Top XX list you'll step on a lot of toes. The CA Top 25 list has encouraged me to go out and try many different cigars and I've discovered quite a few gems this way. Sure, I've smoked my share of dog rockets along the way as well but trying new cigars has always been a fun experience for me.

Take a look at this recent triple banded monstrosity.

Yes I saw this on Brooks site which by the way, I do enjoy his site and I like his style

plus the photos, as for many of his NC's , well !!!! B)

Here is the comment I wrote down concerning THIS cigar.

"Market wise, those 3 bands are the ugliest things I've ever seen, no taste, no class, plus ,adding

a very poor imitation of 2 cuban bands is not very imaginative. They could have put it all on just one band

instead of dressing up the cigar like a clown. :shead:

Just looking at that Viaje Pic makes me nausous......

All your opinions on CA and NC are pretty spot on, its a very subjective topic. And Yes I have been disappointed in wayy too Many LE's RE's editions of Habanos product as well, which as we all know can be a very expensive game of trial and error..

I do firmly believe that CA here is the states is more read and respected than Internationally. Our inability to obtain CC ( B) ) over the years has really migrated many to CA as a resource tool. I mean to a layman, if you cant trust CA on the matter, who can you trust? People Magazine???

The aforementioned makes me more appreciative of this tremendous forum and educational outlet Rob has created for all of us Cuban Ciagar Fanatics..

I wish I had a SCdH El Principe for every post I have seen on the topic of cA's cigar reviews and annual 25 best.

It's been discussed to death, in my opinion and nothing has changed my long-held opinion that the cA reviews are worthless except for their entertainment value.
