I retire to the cave (garage converted to an office of sorts) when it's time for a cigar. I'll either get some work done, or browse cigar forums. If it's during the day, ice water is the beverage of choice (doesn't compete with the flavors of the cigar). If it's after 5pm, I would reach for a single malt, wine, or Hendricks.

Best part about being in the garage is that I don't get bothered. My wife hates the smell, and there's a kid-proof door knob on the door

I'm still waiting for the wife proof door nob. Rob, you should never mind the bug/mosquito venture... the big bucks are with this door nob thing.

Smoke alone 90% of the time with ice tea, beer or sparkling H2O

Other 10% is on the road for work or with friends and cocktails

Bart

I do yard work often with a cigar hanging out my mouth. It's all soaked and tore up but I love it..I chew on and have to relight it dozens of times. I normally only use NC of course...wouldn't want to waste the good stuff

I smoke alone 98% of the time. Not by choice, just circumstance.

I'm a VERY busy person (I mean by personality, though my life is busy too, lol). So whle sometimes I just sit outside and "enjoy the serenity," typically I need to do something else at the same time. I usually do one of 4 things:

1) Pray/meditate/think deep thoughts (often whle taking a walk)

2) Listen to an audio book (often while taking a walk)

3) Surf cigar-related stuff online and watch reviews, etc

4) Watch some tv or something on my computer

I only do the latter 2 things if I'm smoking something a bit cheaper. If I've got a nice cigar, I make sure I can focus on it!

As to pairing, I usually stick with water. I do love Scotch and Rum, though, and have been experimenting with pairing those with cigars, with pretty good results. Zaya Grand Reserva with a Liga Privada T-52 is pure heaven :P

I almost always smoke alone. There are two reasons for this; first, except for the guys at the local cigar shop, my friends don't smoke. Second, I focus on the aroma, taste, and burn of my cigar. I will listen to music (prefer jazz for this - not sure why) or talk radio (often too aggravating) and think but much of my focus is on the cigar. In the winter I sit in my warmed up truck. In warm weather I sit on the porch (live on a farm - very quiet and peaceful) with my dogs. Prefer coffee or port.

Most of the time i smoke alone, few of my friends enjoy a cigar. My drink of choice is water, occasionally hennesy xo, which is very good with cigars.

3 choices for myself.. hanging out with a friend getting some tea, taking a walk around the block with a *dare i say* McDonalds Iced Coffee, or with some Scotch. (currently have Glenmorangie 18, Balvenie DW, Macallan 12 and 18, and a Lagavulin 16 that my uncle finished :)

Living in Hong Kong is a real challenge as there isn't much personal space, let alone the possibility of a man cave. At the moment I only dream of having one. Just for fun I will probably put together a rendering of my perfect mancave, but that is a whole other discussion. I smoke 75% of the time with a really good friend of mine - scratch that one of my best friends. We enjoying going to a local vendor here with really comfy sofas and TVs. Talking about all the regular guys stuff - some nonsense and some life changing. We keep a bottle of scotch handy there - just the regular Glenfiddich 12 yr stuff, which we consume maybe 10% of the time. Another 20% of the time we are drinking sake. And the balance of the time we Fall back on a glass of water. More so of late we are drinking water as I try to learn more about the flavors of each smoke.

The other 25% of the time is alone. Sometimes at the local joint described above just to watch tv or at home on the roof top of the apartment. I don't hv any comfy furniture so not all that welcoming but does the trick. But I do keep a bottle of Macallan 18 in the cupboard.

I do prefer more and more to smoke alone just cause it gives me the break I need from reality. I haven't smoked a great deal but if I don't want think about any choices, I will always fall back on a psdn 4 and a glass of ice water with just about anything on tv or catch up reading the newspaper...

man, I really need a job where I have more time to enjoy a good cigar.
