davidl Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I thought I would start a thread on Israeli locations that are cigar friendly. There is nothing like taking a good friend or relative out to a good cigar, the time that is spent together is often unparalleled in quality, and truly a bonding experience. This is especially true during the winter months, where smoking outside is more of a challenge. I am from Jerusalem, so I will post the one place that know of, and enjoy going to. If you know of anywhere else, please do share! Jerusalem, Mamilla Hotel - Mirror bar: This is a very classy and upscale bar, that has an enclosed glass room for cigar smokers. The place often has live music, and serves very good drinks. You can bring your own cigars, although they do sell their own, from their humidor. I highly recommend it. Opens from 19:00 onwards.
Hash Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Hello, it is a bit small though, only good for two smokers at a time. They could have designed it to be bigger, but i guess it is a sign of the times ,smokers are not welcome anywhere. Casa la Habanos close by used to be a nice place to smoke, but i think it is closed now. In Tel Aviv there is the Inca bar at the Intercontinental, quite good.
gigabyte056 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Hi, I know of a couple of places that sell cigars and you can smoke them there. In Herzelia you have Brill cigars where you can get a cup of coffee or drink and smoke as well as Esh Li in Herzelia again. However being places that mainly sell cigars, I would not bring my own. Another place is the Port of Tel Aviv, again sells cigars and alcohol or coffee. As the previous writer stated, the Inca in the Tel Aviv intercontinental is a good place to have a drink with a friend and smoke one of your finest. Another place is opposite the Sheraton city tower in Ramat Gan, a place call City cigar. Hope this helps.
davidl Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Excellent info guys!. So just to be sure - the Inca in Tel Aviv is a place where it is appropriate to bring your own cigars?
amosnaim Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 hey Guys, Freddy's Cigars at Hayarkon 99, Tel Aviv, is an excellent place both to buy and to smoke Cubans. Plus, Freddy, the owner is a hell of a guy with an amazing expertise in cuban cigars. he actually won an award in a contest in Cuba last year. Enjoy
Hash Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 True Fredi's place in tel aviv is very good to enjoy a cigar, and Fredi has a vast knowledge of cuban cigars.
gigabyte056 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Regarding the Inca. I have brought my own cigars there and smoked them, I did eat and drink there as well so that might be the reason they didn't kick me out to the curb... They have a fantastic bar and good food (very expensive since it is an hotel) but an experience you should try.
davidl Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 Alright guys, this is a great source of info. We probably covered all the "official" spots. Thanks for your input. I will definitely look back to this thread next time I am looking for an interesting place to smoke.
Kangaroo495 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 When I was in Tel-Aviv I smoked at the Inca. The cocktails were excellent. The bar girl actually gave her own recommendation for what would be suitable for drinking with a cigar - and she was spot on with her recommendation. Other than that, I smoked at some Cuban themed bar on Dizengoff. Bought some cigars at a shop near the corner of Dizengoff and Arlozorov, I think it was called Brill. I swear they were selling fakes. The RASS and Boli Gold Medal were not what they should be! The Boli Gold Medal was definitely a RyJ Cedros, and I have no idea what the RASS was, if even a real Cuban. The rest of my smokes I enjoyed on the rooftop of the apartment I was staying in. Damn - Tel-Aviv is an awesome city. Can't wait to go back. The food is awesome too! Especially La Brasserie and that seafood restaurant on Dizengoff (can't remember the name, maybe near the corner with Ben Gurion..?), they were serving the Reef and Beef dish, which was fantastic.

Kangaroo495 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Sounds like some great memories we left you with :-) It was definitely one of the best and most relaxing trips I ever took. I should add that I bought cigars at the Inca Bar. And yes, the place was quite expensive! Other people were smoking cigars that they had brought with them
jimb2u Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Can anyone recommend a solid place to buy Cigars in Jerusalem ? It will be this week and while I found a la Casa listed online...I didn't see much about it. Also, and recommendations for unusual sticks ( regionals) that might be available there? Thanks !!! Cheers Jim
Nino Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 It's been a few years now that I haven't been to Tel Aviv, but, staying very often at the InterConti ( and later at the Dan Hotel ) over the years I can confirm the info about Inca - my "professional" problem there was I could only have coffee or soft drinks with my cigar as I'd have to fly out later that night again, not enough rest time ... :-) One of my favourite places for great food on the beach and cigars was half way between the hotel and Jaffa at "Manta Ray" right on the beach. Then a nice stroll on to old Jaffa, coffee on top and back by the beach - great place ! I've several posts on smoking in TLV on my blog - this one is about Manta Ray ( it's in German though ) : http://flyingcigar.d...dawn-till-dusk/
jimb2u Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks for the great info! Unfortunately I won't be traveling this week, it's a very good friend and BOTL who asked if I could rustle up some sources. He is flying into TLV but not spending any time there...just Jerusalem. I have already requested a box of the RA petite's (and I know how the prices are so hopefully the sticker shock won't be too bad ) as well as a few singles if they have any so I can taste without breaking the box at this point Again, the info is much appreciated and I will hopefully be able to use the TLV info sooner rather than later Cheers Jim
dangolf18 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Cigars in Israel are terribly expensive. Nice duty free shop in the the Tel Aviv airport with rather good prices (usually buy 3 boxes get the 4th free.

Cheers Jim Jim - sorry for the late response...there are two places to buy cigars in Jerusalem. Casa del habano is closed...FYI. There is one place in the outdoor mamilla mall, and another place very close to that at the bottom of Shlomtsion Hamalka. Expect the selections very limited...and CRAZY expensive (5-6 singles usually adds up to approximately the price of a box when buying with Rob). Sorry - I don't have their numbers or names. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.
