cigaraholic Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I try and keep at least one size of every brand in my desktops, I have my favorites but there isn't any brand I don't like. Two weeks ago I tried to cover my Ramon Allones fix with a box of RASCC from 08 but the first one I tried had me holding on to my chair, today I opened my oldest box of RASS hoping to fill the void. Beautiful looking box that had me a little scared because it looked like the box of RASCC that tried to kill me. Construction looked great, very solid cigars, the one I chose was 12.8 gr. Draw was perfect and the flavors that came thru at cold were fruitcake and Port, a winner already. Started with cocoa, dark fruit and a mouth coating caramel. By the end of the first third I had walnut, caramel, milk chocolate and orange peel. In the middle the fruit changed to dried apricot with a marshmallow creaminess. Last third the body went from medium to medium-full, the chocolate to dark and in comes the graham cracker. I love cigars that are so rich they coat your mouth with sugar. I felt like I was camping and having s'mores around the campfire. I'll have no problem smoking these. Can't believe it lasted 1 hour 35 min.
toasterhead Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Oh man, nice review! I have a cab o' 50 TEB Jun 07 in the locker. May be time to move them on over. Thanks for the update. Dave
mazolaman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Nice review mate, always nice to share in the joy of a good cigar! I still havent tried these......
Dbone Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Man that got my mouth watering. Those RASS never do look great, always quite rustic... but the sweet nutty / stone fruit flavors are like no other. Super review, super box... wouldn't expect it to last very long. Enjoy it, brother
frenchkiwi Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 thanks for review i have a box of RASS 08s - from czar i think - smoked beautifully a year ago, with all the spicy sweetness you talk about, but i put them away and now it's all capsicum grass etc and no sweetness. perhaps with an extra year they will be back in their stride like your 07s?? (i live in hope). Ageing cigars can be a rollercoaster ride at times!
genegotti Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Lol !!! I'm sorry brother but I just have to... You had one fruit turning into dried apricots with creamy marshmallows. From cocoa to chocolate to dark chocolate. Caramels, orange peels and graham crackers. C'mon man !!! We're talking bout smoking a cigar right? With senses like that, I'm too scared to ask what else you've been smoking.
lemmycaution Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Great review. Thanks for taking the time. I don't get a lot of the different flavors out of cigars that many others do. My palate is not that good, I guess. But, I don't doubt what other people have the ability to taste and I always enjoy reading their reviews.
aavkk Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 07 was the year for RASS! I went long on 50 cabs from early 07 and they are really exceptional cigars. I've had the pleasure of smoking a few examples from the late 90's and an 02 I believe and they age magnificently.
