MoneyPit Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Bolivar Corona Junior - TEB JUN 08 It’s been quite a long time since I last wrote a cigar review and I typically don’t enjoy writing them, but this morning’s cigar was such a pleasure that I thought I would share for a change. The wife is away this weekend so I ran out to the garage with a pot of coffee, my favorite coffee cup, and a Bolivar Corona Junior that I got from the Czar. Since I knew that I was not going to be interrupted this morning I took my time and experienced a cigar that was far different from the previous ones that I’ve had from the same box. The cigar opened with the typical Bolivar earthiness, which to me has always tasted like a mouthful of sooty dirt, but I was quickly surprised to find that it would not last for very long. The cigar quickly changed from earthy to powered cocoa, then dark cherry, back to earthy and finished strong with black pepper tingling on my tongue. I was quite amazed to find such a dynamic cigar in such a small package. Guess I had better start taking my time with these… I would have to say that the volume of smoke was subtle, but the burn was very sharp. The flavor profile of this cigar is much stronger than what I typically enjoy with my morning coffee, but it was a nice change of pace that paired well with the leftover Christmas Spice coffee that was given to me that I was trying to finish off. No scoring today folks, but the experience was a definite thumbs up. Thanks for letting me share today. Here's a couple of pics:
BatFastard Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Definitely one of my favourites. Nice review and pics. Thanks for sharing!
#2 man Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Thanks for that review along with the great pictures
CBL Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I had one like you described a couple of weeks ago! Already smoked 12 of these from a box, but that one was the first that blew me away completely! Same boxcode, but from '07. The dark cherry made my day as it was the first cigar I've had that had this flavor jump out so clearly.
Colt45 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 In my opinion, great cigars worthy of the marque. Thanks for the review.
CUBANO Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Thanks for the review. Been wanting to get this cigar.
mbrody Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Thanks for the review...Had a great 07 CJ today.
CanuckSARTech Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Cool. Thanks for the review, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
bassman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Excellent review of my favorite small cigar. Sadly, the box of 07s I'm currently smoking have had a few bland & poorly burning duds mixed in with some real gems. Wish there was more consistancy.
DOORJOK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Excellent review! I bought 2 boxes of these little gems and they are sitting in my Humi. They are great with coffee in the morning and are a big cigar in a little format. A great 20 minute smoke.
DraytonHill Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I believed that the half and petit coronas are tastier than the larger vitolas.. what do tyou think?
Dbone Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Very nice review Dober. Reads like it was a real gem, awesome! Great start to the day
MoneyPit Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 I believed that the half and petit coronas are tastier than the larger vitolas.. what do tyou think? I think the half and petit coronas offer a very good indication of the flavor profile of each marca. After smoking mostly nothing but thinner gauge cigars this winter I have definitely developed a fondness for the smaller ring gauges.
Habanakane21 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Just received my box for Czar today...had to light one up! wow...I loved it
dicko Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Just received my box for Czar today...had to light one up! wow...I loved it Nice mate enjoy. Who thinks these are slightly creamier than the PC's, and the PC's slightly more pepper?
rdb6 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 It doesnt get much better then this compelling little smoke.
bassman Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I believed that the half and petit coronas are tastier than the larger vitolas.. what do tyou think? The Coronas Extra & Churchill sized Corona Gigante are also top notch.
mbrody Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Nice mate enjoy.Who thinks these are slightly creamier than the PC's, and the PC's slightly more pepper? I get the opposite on my 07 examples of CJ and 08 PC's
Rogers72 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Nice mate enjoy.Who thinks these are slightly creamier than the PC's, and the PC's slightly more pepper? I would agree with that.
tandblov Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I love the flavor concentration of the CJ's much more than the PC's. Problem is that so many of the CJ's Ive had are tight as hell.
