ChanceSchmerr Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The Navy tells me that a ship in pearl harbour, Hawaii needs a replacement engineer for a sail from Hawaii back to Canada. I say " sure, count me in!". Blizzard in Victoria forces me to fly early from Victoria to Seattle to las Vegas, even though my flight to Hawaii from Vegas doesn't leave until 1 am. I get to Vegas at 8 pm. And that's how I come to be sitting in Casa Fuente, drinking Balvenie 17 yr peated cask and smoking a Rafael Gonzalez Lonsdale. Life is good
MrGlass Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Lucky bastard! Good to hear you're making the most of this horrible situation.

ChanceSchmerr Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Hey Guys, Found an internet terminal to briefly catch up before I sail tommorow - internet is brutal/non-existant on the ship - this will be my last post until I return on the 7th! Hawaii has been glorious the last two days. Firmly sunburnt and I don't even mind. Kudos to the Navy for making life grand before the work comes due! I'm sure I will be singing a different tune once the sailing begins, but for right now, it's been awesome! Nothing beats beers, Cigars and great "scenery" on a Hawaiian beach! Catch you fellas when I return! Don't buy the Peated Balvenie. Just awful - Balvenie should not try to make a peated Malt, it's not what they are known for and it really shows. Dry and harsh. Stick with a good Caol Ila or Ardbeg.
