MrGlass Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What, you couldn't put a Cohiba logo on the lobster too?
Colt45 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What kind of Lobster is that ? My wife is from Newfoundland & they don't look like that there. Looks like a Caribbean lobster to me. Nice pic!
ckearns Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Holly smokers that's one big beast! How did it get prepared? Boiled/Broiled/Butter Poached? And I agree it looks like a Caribbean lobster.
laficion Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What, you couldn't put a Cohiba logo on the lobster too? No need to, look at it's tail. It looks like an authentic Cohiba lobster to me.
bigfunkyg Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I always those were referred to as "Rock Lobsters" vs the Atlantic Lobster. I ate three of those once one night in the Dominican. Don't ask how the next day was. Hope you didn't get any lobster juice on all those Cohiba's! G

Everyone is correct, this is a Caribbean lobster, I SCUBA dive and catching them can be quite a trick. They hide in little caves and cracks and you tickle them out with a stick and snare them or trick them into a net. I caught 67 the month we were there, unfortunately they were not all this big.

Don't worry he had a great cigar for his last request.

edameff Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Nice. That's St. John in USVI? Yes, the closest place on earth left that is reminiscent of the Garden of Eden. If any of you consider going down we will be there from Aug 21-Sept 21, any of my FOH brothers that care to join me will get all the lobster you can eat and Cubans cigars till you puke.
stargazer14 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I hit St. John for the first time myself this year, a few days of bliss, wonderful island and enjoyed my smokes immensely. I hope to go down again toward fall, maybe I'll see you....
