archihu Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Hello, everybody I'm a new smoker, I love FOH!! I got a box of Punch Punch Tubos from a unfamiliar friend. Theose tubos don't look good, especially the back side. Are they the fake cigars? I am confused...
mkz Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Welcome to the forum! From the look of the pictures everything but the line on the tube seems ok. Perhaps an packaging anomaly? Smoke one and let us know how they taste.
JoshMP Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 The band looks really out of proportion to the cigar. The band's on a box I have here (BLP Dic 07) measure 27mm to the cigars 140mm at their widest point. That band looks smaller. Though that's very possibly just a packaging change. The best test is to smoke it, if it smokes well like a punch punch should then you've got what you wanted.
cigcars Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 *It's been stated in the counterfeit recognition guides that tubed cuban cigars are seldom faked to the degree the rest of the normally falsified ones are, i.e., Cohiba Esplendidos, Monte Cristo No. 2's, etc. It seems that not only does it cost more to either fake or obtain the tubes thus defeating the purpose of spending next to nothing to charge as if for something, the sizes are harder to uniformly make and fit to the tube, plus as these are usually smaller sized smokes they are passed over in favor of the larger churchill & pyramide vitolas. This is not to say it doesn't happen, as the premier guide states, just not as exhaustively.
docbp87 Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Look fine to me. I have a few Boli RC tubos that have a "seam" like that in the printing, and they are from a legit source.
Habanos2000 Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Welcome... I'd be more concerned about your "unfamiliar friend" than these tubes. I have a hard time understanding why a counterfeiter would take the time and expense of making tubes. Take a moment and introduce yourself in the Newbie section and spend some time around here so you can soon find out why the regulars here don't sweat if any of the cigars we buy are ever fake. Know and trust your supplier and forget the packaging issues.
mkz Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Speaking of counterfeit tubes... anyone remember these? Cant seem to find the post from where the picture originated...
archihu Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 Thanks for everyone's warm help,I learn a lot!!!
fred170 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 They look authentic. If you prefer, send me a few and I'll let you know after a week or so...
cigarros Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Speaking of counterfeit tubes... anyone remember these? Cant seem to find the post from where the picture originated... Once I saw similar picks. It's has sent trading manager from China. Even named tube cost...
aussiecigars Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I smoke a few of the Punch Tubo's and come across this seam often I would feel comfortable in saying that it is a manufacturing issue rather than an attempt to copy the packaging.
docbp87 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Out of curiosity aroused by this thread, I looked through my box of Boli RC tubos tonight that I smoked from and counted 6 out of 10 tubes with this sort of seam in the printing. Would definitely not worry.
Turrbo Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 about 30% of my tubos have that line. Don't worry about it, must have been a printing issue on that run. Most of my boxes have some tubos with that line.
archihu Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Thanks everyone again for the enthusiastic help
El Capitan Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I have a box of the Punch Petit Coronations in the green Tubos and they have the same line. They definitely look authentic to me. Enjoy!
