El Presidente Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Ken has advised that he is writing long posts and the system kicks him off hence deleting his post entirely. He is not happy. Either: 1. We have a technical problem 2. Ken has a technical problem 3. The Forum software is developing artificial intelligence and screening content of potential posts Is anyone else currently or over the past 30 days experienced this problem? If one exists I will get Jason onto it.
laficion Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 In the last 3 days I have added 28 photos on one thread with a lot of text. I didn't have a single problem. Ken, are you sure you're on good terms with Jason ??
rckymtn22 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Most email programs have a time out point so my guess the forum is the same. Usually what I do if I am sending a long email or post I copy the thing , then send or post. Just in case there is a malfunction at the junction. Then I can redo the whole thing if there is a problem, learned the hard way.
cellinisart Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I had a little trouble a week ago when I clicked the reply to post and the screen just went white. Did it 2 times.
Ken Gargett Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I had a little trouble a week ago when I clicked the reply to post and the screen just went white. Did it 2 times. see? vindification! and i might add that there was no hissy fit. you were just annoyed that your system won't work properly. hissy fits are saved for the scum that is qantas. DO NOT FLY WITH THOSE SCUM!!!
Ken Gargett Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Compose long posts in your word processor. Paste them into the reply box when you are finished. That will also have the additonal benefit that you will be auto-prompted to use caps at the start of a new sentence don't bet on that last bit.
CanuckSARTech Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 LOL. Sorry Ken - I quite frequently start a post, wander into a different Internet Explorer window to do something different, and then come back 5-, 10-, 20-minutes later to complete my post and click on the submit button.....and no issues. Hell, when I do some of my disgustingly long reviews with the pictures, typing up some of that ends up taking 20 minutes or longer, and no issues. I'd vote on #2 (and even #3). That, or considering all of Ken's recent "issues" (Quantas, power company, phone company, internet, Twiddle, etc.), maybe Ken is just not suited for the Digital Age. Or pants.
ajgagnon Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I recently introduced my father to this forum. Upon reading one of El Presidente's linked articles, which may have had a certain political bent, my father began to type out a minor dissertation, and then promptly lost it all when he hit submit. So, one must deduce that either a) there is a timeout; there is a length limitation; or c) as has been suggested, there is a built-in bullshit detector... nice software feature!

Habanos2000 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 ...there is a built-in bullshit detector... nice software feature! if that was the case, most of the forum would be pretty empty.
