Hey Everyone,

currently on a ridiculously slow Portugese Library Internet connection....so no pics as of yet.

My travel was eventful - never use TAP airlines if you can help it. US Airways Seattle-Philly-Madrid, no problem. TAP Madrid-Porto....cancelled 24 hrs prior with no warning at check in. m-f-rs. Had to wait 12 hrs to take a Madrid-Lisbon-Porto milk run. This was great because now I could see the Madrid B&Ms i heard so much about!......except.....we spent so much time going into shoe and clothing stores for the fiancee (at my suggestion, I will add - didnt want her to think this was all about cigars, and she made full use of it) by the time I got to the two stores I was told about....they were both closed for Siesta, not to open until a time when we had to be back at the airport. Once again, Madrid screws me over. At least it wasnt food poisioning this time!

At the Madrid Airport, I was told Terminal 1 had the biggest Cigar DF store....but of course my Lisbon boarding pass wasnºt allowed there. So I had to make do with smaller ones. My 2 boxes purchased so far - 2009 Punch Double Robusto RE Spain.....this was a young but tasty cigar...and after pawing through endless useless and plugged boxes of 2000 vintage SLR Churchills, Partagas de Partagas no.1 and Monte Especials....I found a 2003 box of Upmann Sir Winstons that would have made PSP with Rob, I swear. Dark, oily wrappers, tantalising aroma, old style bands....I never liked the Winny i tried from Czar, but it was new - these aged ones were too good to ignore. I picked up the box, took it here to Portugal, gave one a try....WOW!!!!!!! A blockbuster smoke with medium power, loads of smoke, and oodles of Coffee, Cocoa and cream flavours.....I was in heaven. 99 point smoke....Score!

Some quick non-cigar notes about Portugal so far

- The Lisbon domestic terminal at the airport is a gong show of the nth degree. A total joke. Never fly TAP

- Volkswagon Polo - great car, not meant for drivers that are 6ft.4.

- The drivers here are insanely fast....I am HOME!

- The Minho Region where I am staying (Arcos De Valdevez specifically) is a dreamscape....luscious vegetation, old style charm, wonderful people, fantastic food....I am loving it here!

- Wine, beer and liqour are as cheap as they say. I may come back an alcoholic.

- Weather is very hot. despite eating more, I will still lose weight from all the sweating......

Thats it for now! More to come later! Take care, all!

Thanks everyone, A full rundown of my mis-adventures coming up soon, just as soon as US Airways gets their heads outta their a$$s and finds my lost baggage with some of my cigars in them!

Never been more thankful that I took a chance and hand carried some of them through US Customs!
