Garry brought a box of these along to Tuesday nights function. I must have stashed one in my overcoat pocket which managed to fall out when I arrived at mate Dino's place last night.

Generally I am not a fan of R&J Churchills. Too big, too boring.

This one however was a revelation. Roasted coffee, stewed cherries, toasted tobacco. Tad over medium bodied and drop dead gorgeous.

For the first time in years I am actually looking forward to my next R&J Churchill.

I smoked my last '05 A/T just a week or so ago - loved it (and the old silver tube  )

I was treated to several of the tubos this past winter by a friend. They were wonderful to the very end. This is one cigar he and his buddies 'go to' most frequently.

RyJ Churchills - I tried to love them but they did not return that love...

All tobacco and no flavour...

I tried very hard to love them, re-visiting them many times but to no avail.

I even asked my buddy - Fuzz to access the situation. He could not help either. Same conclusion - Bland...

If things have changed, I love to hear it.

I have a soft spot in my heart for these as this was the first Cuban cigar I had the pleasure of smoking. It was in the spring of 1999 and I had only been smoking cigars for a short time and then I smoked the Churchill. It was head and shoulders above anything I had smoked to that point, and it was the benchmark by which I measured cigars for many years. I haven't had one in a while, but I have several boxes put away. Thanks Rob for mentioning these. I think I will have one very soon.

Never had the pleasure. I have a single from the Czar won recently on the felt. Letting it sit for a bit and will try to post thoughts when I smoke it this fall.

Back in the mid 90's, this was my favorite cigar, they fell off in 99 thru 01, but I think they've come back strong. I still favor a BCG in this vitola today, but the R&J Churchill is not one I'd do without.
