cigaraholic Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 After watching the latest video review of this cigar I thought I better open my oldest box and see if I agreed with the guys. The first one i smoked looked great, smelled great, but just couldn't deliver the flavor goods it promised. I'd smoked a great Hoyo DC earlier and I thought it may have dumb down the BBF so I smoked another one today to give it a fair chance. Same result, nice coffee flavor but doesn't really get going till the final third. I'd like the final third to be the opening. Good Sunday morning cigar with coffee. To the tractors!!
shrink Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I agree. Based on my limited experience, 2006 just wasn't the year for BBF's. Now, the early 2006 Royal Coronas, Coronas Extras, and Coronas Gigantes were GREAT. Funny, isn't it, how much variance there can be between vitolas of the same marcas, even from the same time frame. My momma always said, "Life is like a box of Bolivars. You never know what you're gonna get."
cigaraholic Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 Funny.............maddening..........the wonderful world of Cuban cigars! I decided to move this box to my desktop to start smoking them up. I just couldn't believe how cigars that looked this good could be so disappointing. As I put them away I grabbed another to try..........bingo!! Lit it up and got a beautiful blast of rich coffee and cocoa, then comes the carmel, spice and honey......a drop dead gorgeous cigar.......I almost fell off the tractor. Three cigars from the same box, one 84, one 86 and a 93...........a real Forest Gump box.
bas Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Beauties))) Is it a shadow or it's really different cover colour? BBF is not a "bomb", but definitely one of my favorites) Spicy, nut-flavoured, few fruits, earthy... It's always fool-body cigar. Mmmm) Yummy!
cigaraholic Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 I think it's a shadow, but I did notice quite a range of wrapper shades in this cab. Sometimes you don't seem to get the color matching in a bundle that you get in a regular box.
