Bizarre. So, now the counterfeiters are going after folks who don't even have enough sense to, at least, think they're buying Cubans? Or are they just counting on the middle-men being that stupid?

That's exactly what the fakes were that they were selling all along. They just have the decency this time of not putting a fake Cuban govt. seal on them!

Just sent the following email to the dude and am anxiously awaiting his response.

"Can you tell me a little more about these cigars? They look great and Chinatown isn't too far from me. Are these Dominican or Cuban cigars? The band looks like I've seen on cuban Cohibas. Let me know. I need some good cigars for the weekend."

Here's the response: They are almost the same as the Cuban Cohibas. HAHAHAHAH!

"There great cigars and there almost the same as the Cuban Cohibas, just made in the Dominican Republic that way there "Legally imported" here since we can't do transactions with Cuba. My fathers a big cigar smoker and he gave them to me, I just don't really smoke cigars too much and I already have another box opened. My number is 213 245 7232 if you would like more info."

Whats really ironic is the disclaimer at the top of the web page warning about avoiding scams and fraud.

Fantastic deal indeed.

(Slightly off topic but related to frauds) A great friend of mine about 2 years ago started buying pipes to smoke. Over the last couple years he has wisened a fair bit however those days, he was keen to buy 'Top stuff' from the word go.

Anyway, he was online and found a great deal on a Savinelli pipe which like the COHIBAs above, was too good to be true. Dispite his concern, he purchased the pipe and on its arrival, started bragging at the quality, the way it smoked well etc and that he 'Got a great deal" for an Italian Savinelli pipe.

Wrong......! ;)

On my closer inspection when looking at the stem, sure, it was engraved "Savinelli" however, the country of origin Italy was spelled as "Intaly!"

To this day, I don't let up and every chance I get to remind him, I do. :D

That is truly unbelievable.. It sounds like this guy has had great experience in selling fakes with a type of response such as that. I do feel for the poor sod who eventually buys this rubbish although it is more than likely that will never know the difference.

Well you have to give the guy some credit here - he is not selling them as cuban cigars,

he's selling them as what they are -Dominican cigars.

But to pay that amount for them you would have to be a fool.
