Bartolomeo Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 -Rustic looking wrapper with oil spots abundant, solid in hand, big ass cigar! -One of my favorites and have 5+ boxes of this beauty to back up this point -To be honest, I have seen a lot of ugly wrappers on these but its what is on the inside that counts -Chocolate flavored leather is what I taste on initial puff -I dry boxed for 3 days, spongy feel when squeezed, no underfill here -Light Cinnamon, chocolate, citrus and tea opening, solid Mild in profile -At this point in the cigar experience, it reminds me of one of those big, tough guys you see in the movies that is really a big teddy bear -I always think these are very good now but down the road is when they will truly shine IMHO -Slow burn rate, low amount of smoke at rest, wonderful draw, I think the dry boxing helped out a lot -Medium in body at the start of the 2/3 -The aftertaste is long and rich, one of my favorite ones in a while -More citrus in this cigar than in previous examples, almost imagine rolling orange peels in cocoa and thus you taste what I am experiencing now -Some cocoa, continued Cinnamon, citrus, fresh wood are in the 2/3 -At this point I am smiling understanding why I like these so much now and probably even more later in life -The rich balance of chocolate with the spice of the Cinnamon rounded off by the Orange is a delightful combination in this big smoke -This Sublimes shows some characteristics of the Edmundo Dantes but overall two different animals -132 mins smoke time -Last 1/3 showed its youth a touch but still continued flavors of chocolate/spice/coffee and citrus -9.2/10 today with a potential of 9.4 Bart
thechenman Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Great review Bart. My favorite LE and my favorite Montecristo. Time to reorder these...I think I'm down to only 3 sticks.
android Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Nice review Ryan...I have yet to bust open one of these yet but I think I'm now inspired to do so.
Peacock Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I must agree, nice review. I have enjoyed 5 of these beauties since last year, and my last one was absolutely magnificant!
Buch0 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 These have done good for the Monte name of late, justifies my faith in the brand (had many a dud #2 & #4s in recent times). Cheers for the review.
Ken Gargett Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 rob and i got a preview of these at the 08 festival and i have loved them since that day. for me, a cracker LE and the best LE of 08 by a mile. rob and i have discussed these and i gather that there is considerable variation. so far, i've never seen anything but top notch. still have a couple of boxes in deep storage. ta for the review.
Bahnofstrasse Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Bought 2 boxes of these and did not try one until a few months ago. I was truly looking forward to this marca as I have been a huge fan of the MC 05 LE D, as well as the 06 LE Robusto. The 1st Sublime was a bit underwhelming proving to be a wind tunnel with one dimensional flavor. Came back with another hoping that it was just a dud and it was pretty much the same thing. I will revisit in the near term, but I am fearful that I just have a bad box. Here is hoping Box 2 is a good one...
Jimmy2 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Never smoked one as i am not a big fan of the size but i should have bought a box as i have heard they have some great flavor and thats what smoking cigars is all about...Enjoy them Gents
