Bartolomeo Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 -Cigar felt very packed in hand, matte oily texture, apparent veins, very solid in weight -Pre draw was barely there as I didn’t get a lot of feedback due to the tightness -First puff was very tough, almost blocked, cocoa-leather-spice were noticed -Very little air getting through, but what I do get is sort of unique for Bolivar, some Citrus-Floral hints -Cigar feels tight right where the band should be, try to massage it a little, but does nothing -I go inside to grab my wife’s meat thermometer to open this puppy up, wow, this helped tremendously -Now we are cooking, the cream/citrus/leather flavors come in waves instead of the drips I first experienced, solid Medium -Lovely aftertaste of a dry-cocoa, cream sensation…….almost like you don’t want it to ever leave your mouth -Ash so far is dark Grey on outer ring and inner core is almost White but not quite, last about 1.75” then tumbles -End of 1/3 is more Chocolate/earthy/cedar/leather with the cream subsiding a little -2/3 is more leather/wood/spice with touch of Cocoa, Full in profile now -Now this is a golf course smoke -Final 1/3 was Full bodied along with leather/pepper/earth and touch of coffee -123 mins smoke time -DUMB EXPERIMENT: Little bored so I stuck the thermometer back into my nub when I was done and it read 178*, for those of you who always wondered how hot the core of a cigar was -After I fixed the draw early on, this was one enjoyable cigar, complex, flavorful and a real piece of art -9.15/10 Bart
smll2 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Bart, Your surgery reminds me of the House TV show. I like your attack first ask questions later attitude. I now have the confidence to do what needs to be done and take care of bizness. Nice review.
Colt45 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Thanks for the review! For me, this cigar and the Upmann Sir Winston constantly battle for the title of king of churchills.
