  1. Just taking the chance to dig into my JL PC. Bought them in 2009. As I don’t like boxpressed cigars I had put them in a jar. The jar is in a lock box. So pretty air tight. In the pics it looked like mold, but it’s glue Cold draw: fruity, flowers, leather, caramel Cigar itself very rough looking. Start was white pepper, salts twang and very smooth. In the first third a chocolate and nutty taste came up. It reminded me of the JL No1. Second third: medium strength, sharp even burn. Leather and a bit of peppermint. Last third: upper medium strength, sweet wood, ginger a subtle smoke Quite a character for a small cigar.
  2. This Robusto begins with strong almond, bitter chocolate, cedar, cocoa, coffee, cream, leather, toast, tobacco and wood with twang, then accompanied by slight hints of citrus, hay, molasses and salt notes. Due to its dominant coffee taste, I feel as if I am savouring cigar and coffee altogether at the same time. Such a beautiful Cigarpresso and I highly recommend this cigar for both beginners and seasoned cigar aficionados who really want to have coffee and cocoa bomb experience! -Mr. Knight Brand: Juan López Size: 50 x 124 (Robusto) Country: Cuba Box Code: N/A Price: N/A Score: 96
  3. I have become a big fan of Juan Lopez over the last 18-24 months. I hadn't had much exposure to the Marca previous to that point. They are by no means a mild or light cigar. But the black coffee and nuts that I get from them, plus their intensity, lead me to believe they will be great agers. I much prefer the Corona Gorda size to the shorter, fatter Sellecion 2. I also prefer the slightly more subtle/refined flavor I get from this size, I think they will eventually be much more complex. Pre light - Surprisingly nothing of note. Tobacco, firm draw. 1st Third - Black coffee, some nuts on the fringes, toasted tobacco. I worked the foot a bit with the perfecdraw prelight, but the draw is still tighter than I prefer. It takes two or three pulls to get a mouthful of thick smoke. There is a lump around mid point that seems the worst. 2nd Third - Coffee and nuts continue to mingle with the toasted tobacco core. There is plenty of fresh, vegetal, flavor as well, not quite unpleasent, but in my opinion it doesn't add to the cigars enjoyment. Im hoping this ages away. The cigar is savory and bitter like black coffee, not bitter as in too hot. Final Third - Once I worked through the knot about mid way the draw opened right up. Dominance of coffee, nuts and tobacco continues. Some unpleasent bitter, and tarry flavors start to appear towards the end, mixed with the still present vegatal notes, leaves for an unpleasent last few puffs. Summary - A strong, full flavor cigar through and through. Not a lot of nuance or development as the smoke progressed, but I'm hoping the strong flavor core present now smooths out with age leaving some nice smooth, flavorful sticks in a decades time. 74 minutes.
  4. Has anybody ever seen this smoke? I can't find any information on it and can't find a Juan Lopez Belux Regional Edition on any release list.
  5. Just had this RE and not really sure what to think as I haven't smoked much Juan Lopez. How representative of the marca is it? Based on descriptions I think I'd really like the JP 1. Thoughts? (I don't generally smoke RE's, LE's or anything with too many bands
  6. Hi guys. I'm looking to splurge a bit and buy my first regional box. What would you recommend? Por Larranaga Belicosos Extra? Saint Luis Rey Pacificos? Juan Lopez #4? or Punch Sabrosos??? How are they lately?
