  1. My best has been the nicest surprise. A Montecristo 4 from a 25 count box in my humidor. POL JUN 10 is the date, and each one just starts off like it was dipped in sugar. A silver lining over the last while has been coming back to my humidor after a couple years of not smoking. Life got in the way, but time has healed wounds and smiled on these cigars.
  2. My first was a box of Monte 2's from La Casa del Habano in Windsor Ontario, in 1997. Before I knew they had to be kept in a humidor... After two months, whatever ones I hadn't smoked split and fell completely apart. I've come a long way!
  3. I'm doing the Varadero resort thing with my wife, with a day or two planned in Havana. I know there are much better short smokes to be had, but I like variety. Truth be told, my wife wants some because she likes the shape. She's not as picky about flavor as I am.
  4. Where's the love? I've had the odd Divinos and they were usually good to just okay. Wondering if there have been any good ones smoked recently? Good box codes? Anything HQ in the pipeline? Just curious, as I've been pinching my pennies for my first trip to Cuba (Saturday!) and these are on my short-smoke wish list. Thanks!
  5. R&J Wide Churchill. Been holding off trying one for a long while. It was good!
  6. This weekend marked our third anniversary. My wife celebrated with a Cohiba Lancero and champagne. That's my girl
  7. I smoked very briefly, didn't enjoy it. And one of the reasons why might also have a big impact on cigars. For me, it was the smell. I found my own sense of smell reduced, thus affecting the taste of everything. And for me, cigars and the tastes I pick up with them rely heavily on the sense of smell, so cigarettes and anything are not a good pairing for me.
  8. I don't like double bands, or the Partagas Serie bands, and I tend to enjoy the simpler bands, like montecristo. I liked the older cohiba band better... Once we get into the holograms and shiny gold, i think the point gets lost.
  9. I'm in the 250 - 500 range, but it will slow down for a while. I'll be saving that fun money for my trip to Cuba in February.
  10. I enjoy all of them for sure. My top five: Monte 5, Cohiba Secretos, San Cristobal El Principe, Trinidad Reyes, HdM Du Maire. And secretly, the little Cuaba too.
  11. I'd go for the smaller ring gauges in this case...
  12. If you take them out of the boxes and remove the bands, they can't proove the cigars are Cuban, so they should be okay I would guess.
  13. Awesome Trevor. Glad to see these poor little guys get some love, because I do enjoy them, for what they are.
  14. Or why not some Ramon Allones 898's while we're at it?
  15. Mine isn't especially creative. 77 is my year of birth, Stone is my last name, Blues are what I like to play on the guitar, one of which is shown on my avatar. It's a Telecaster with the FOH cap and some Monte 5's on it.
  16. I like the puritos for a really quick smoke. I find the first 1/3 to have a slight Monte taste, and after that it becomes hot plain tobacco. I also smoke the R&J and the Upmann varieties, and find the same experience, the Upmann probably being my fave, with the flavor holding on a little longer.
  17. I've got 2 coffins, and gave one away as a birthday present. Still waiting to try them, based on the FOH video review. Seem like they might be a bit stronger than I thought, so after a hearty thanksgiving, I believe I'll break them out then.
  18. Had both an HQ Monte 4, and a locally bought Monte 4. The HQ was hands down the winner. So much richer, it was hard to believe! I'm looking forward to trying out this comparison for the last few sticks I bought locally.
  19. I find I really enjoy the Padron and Fuente lines (the 1964 and Anejo respectively being my favorite), as well as some of Rocky Patel's cigars. But I like them because I find them so vastly different from CC's. I also find I tire of their flavors quickly, smoking 1 NC to maybe every 5 - 10 CC's. I'm always trying out NC's, and had I known better, I would have started with Padron.
