  1. Sad to hear the 09's aren't smoking the best. My first ever trial with these was a 10 pack and they were 09. A few so far are a little too tight of a draw, but the depth of flavor I would hope is there, just hasn't appeared yet. I will just let these rest for longer and hope they get better.
  2. Those RyJ look fabulous!!
  3. Partagas SD #4 Aug-Oct? 2009 Monte Petit Edmundo ~Sept. 2008
  4. Tried this cigar. It was a dud, especially for the price. No one I knew was terribly surprised that it got discontinued. The new Illusione singulare was pretty good however. Nice photos!
  5. I cut before lighting and test draw and initial notes of flavor. Then I use a torch lighter to toast the entire foot of the cigar while NOT drawing or even having my mouth on the end of the cigar. Once the foot is entirely toasted, I then blow OUT the cigar a quick couple of times to get rid of the nasty super heated smoke, THEN I start drawing through the cigars. Works great and I don't get the gas or the super heated charred tobacco taste filtering through my cigar.
  6. Thanks for the review! I also am one that has a pet peeve towards a too tight draw. I also don't like a super easy, no resistance at all draw. I agree with others so far regarding the tight draw that: 1. Traveling unsettled them and they needed just a bit more time resting 2. It really was just a too packed and tight cigar 3. It needed some dry boxing, which might just be a symptom of #1 Thanks again for the great review!!
  7. CA knows who butters their bread. They almost certainly will never publish a cigar that they truly feel is lower than an 80. You just never know who your next best advertiser ($$$) will be or come from. They lost a LOT of any hint of credibility when they gave the Casa Magna the number one spot in 2008. It is rumored that spot was basically bought. I like the numerical system for many of the reasons many have already stated. Sometimes, this particular PSD4 is just a 91, where the one before it was a 90. I can quickly say just that and get my point across without have to say, "Well this one is just slightly better than yesterdays' but they are both really good, but yesterdays just didn't hit me as well as todays......" and on and on, without really saying much of all. You might console yourself Vann with giving the terms you relate to best, average, above average, etc. with different ranges. For example, a cigar rating between 85-89 is above average, 90+ is great/exceptional, or whatnot. I really wish I had more income for cigars so that I could support FOH as I appreciate the integrity and and transparency of Rob and staff in an industry that is known with deceit and corruption.
  8. Thanks for sharing! Too bad that our media is so biased that you almost certainly won't find this story in the news. Thanks again!
  9. I have tried the ENE 10 Part. Shorts. Right when I received them, they were definitely a little young. Now, they are smoking really well. They only keep getting better with each month in my humidor, but are really nice presently.
  10. For Portland, it's all about if Odin can stay healthy THEN see how he performs. If Odin gets injured again, or just can't perform...I hate to say it, but he then might be a wash. Lebron should not have done his lame show for his decision. He lost a lot of class in my eyes by doing that.
  11. Really neat! Thanks for sharing!
  12. I believe that a higher power created us and the earth we live on. Many of us remember doing fruit fly experiments in college where you would breed generations of fruit flies so see for bigger wings, bigger eyes, etc. Many scientists have done thousands upon thousands of these continual tests and not one fruit fly has ever turned into a bee. Evolution is just a change over time within a species. So yes, a bird with a longer beak that lets it get more bugs than the same type of bird with a shorter beak, will have a better chance of surviving longer, and having more offspring. I believe we can have this type of evolution WITHIN the same species, but not the type where a dog turns into a horse. The vast majority of mutations are very harmful to the offspring, not beneficial where they will get to breed more, thus showing a significant change within the species.
