  1. They are trying to cash in on the bourbon boom in the US. Even more specific than that variant of whiskey, practically anything from Buffalo Trace distillery is at cult-level status, even "Weller Special Reserve" which is a $23 screw top bottle. People who don't know the difference between bourbon and whiskey (bourbon is a whiskey) will brag about drinking bourbon, spending $50/pour on bourbon, and just like saying the word "bourbon" in general.
  2. I can't blame them for making a product that people will buy. However, with their low-mid grade products (B.T. and Weller S.R.) being "allocated" in many places, the attention and fame has gone to their heads. Meanwhile, W.T. Rare Breed which is sitting on supermarket shelves at $55 will likely blow the doors off this unattainable $7,500 bottle in a blind test.
  3. A cedar tray and a 50 pack of Ninfas...spend the $1600 on an event/hotel/drinks/etc.
  4. You're right. I know a few people who are reducing/eliminating their savings rate, or racking up debt, because they just can't (won't) deal with a reduction in spending. These are people who know what they're doing. When items hit that imaginary threshold of cost/enjoyment ratio, I'll no longer enjoy them even if I can afford it. Bourbon is headed down the same path.
  5. A friend gifted me a sample of Batch 67 @ 130 proof. A lot of high end stuff is hype, this one is not. Its an amazing whiskey.
  6. Pricey but I'd try it. My fav warm weather drink to go with a stick is FeverTree Ginger Beer Light.
  7. Interesting info on the 21% as gifts.........my last purchase was Davidoff Tubos, for gifts.
  8. Any chance these and others will be available in the future in 10's? Even at a couple more bucks per stick, I think that quantity would be popular.
  9. Piggybacking off of Prez's thread that can be seen here: Back to back 95's? I was reading through it, and wondered if any of you have noticed a correlation between a high score and ring gauge? There will obviously be some bias toward larger rings since their production far outpaces their smaller brothers, but how do you think 33-42 stacks up against 46-up? Have you noticed any distinct difference?
  10. Recovered except for taste. -used to love craft beer, no longer drink it. It nearly all tastes the same now. -still drink and enjoy coffee, but its not like it used to be -used to enjoy all whiskeys, now stay in the barrel proof range, as under 100pf tastes like the flavor has been watered down to 40pf
  11. Have you tried any of the finished whiskeys that have a secondary finishing process? Some of the Makers Mark products come to mind. Makers 46 spends some time with French oak staves added. Their Private Selection bottles have different combinations of added finishing staves, which are listed on the bottle. They also have a yearly limited release, called the "Wood Finishing Series".
  12. Thanks Pres, if you did nothing but keep the N3 available, that would be enough to keep me hanging around! It punches above its weight for sure. ............although I do hope that we eventually see the forthcoming large format N's in a sampler size! Keep up the good work......Happy New Year everyone.
  13. Sometimes events have min. spend...............a friend went to an event a while back where that was the case. They were far away from the minimum and said a few guys ended up drinking Boss Hog in shots to get there.
  14. N3 rosado. Every single one I've had has been great, but the first half of this particular one was something else.
  15. Disclaimer- CC noob here, I don't have any aged stock so maybe my mind will change if I can spare the couple boxes I do have for a few years. With that said, its increasingly hard for me to justify buying a small format CC when a high quality NC lancero is less expensive. Plus, the $ is just one factor. Went through a recent box of HUHC, and I'd say 5 were awesome, 15 were average to good, and had to toss 5. I've given a lot of these away to friends that only burn one occasionally, and it doesn't sit well with me that there is a 20% chance it won't even be enjoyable for them. On the plus side, you can buy N3's for the same price, and every single one will be spot on in every aspect. Everything about them is awesome. I'm not a gambler, so I'll trade a 10% chance at a 95pt for a 100% chance at a 92pt any day of the week.
  16. A box of Havana VI Victorias just showed up in the mailbox today. Hard to beat for the price.
  17. The Tabernacle Havana Seed CT #142. I didn't know a cigar could be this rich. Bought a single, so maybe it was luck of the draw, but wow......strength without that pepper that usually blasts you with NC's.
  18. Similar to a standout bottle of a single barrel whiskey......most likely there's only 100-150 bottles in existence, so when its gone, that's it.
  19. A couple years ago, I tried a Java on a recommendation......as a huge coffee fan, it sounded like something I'd like. Your stick sounds like the same concept. Manage your expectations and you might enjoy it (or at least some of it) 😆 It really wasn't that bad, although the muddy/chemical aftertaste the next day put it into the "one and done" category for me.
  20. Hot, sometimes with a splash of milk-
  21. Sailing.........or racing motorcycles, if I didn't already have a bunch of stainless and titanium attached to my bones.
