  1. I read somewhere that Winston Churchill spent a day in Cuba smoking cigars and eating oranges, so must be something there! For me it's gotta be a nice smooth aged rum from Barbados (Mount Gay XO, Doorly's XO, Doorly's 12, Rum Sixty Six), or St Lucia (Chairmans Reserve, Admiral Rodney). But mostly I reach for Doorly's XO.
  2. What the f is Vevo? Sorry guys but I don't have a camera yet (old school) especially me ol' school kneecaps. Captain Beefheart's Safe as milk is going down well with a nice Himalayan ............ now on track 12 and ready to let rip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
  3. I appreciate all your meaningful, and helpful solutions , but no one has addressed the original question here. What happens to the equation when there is no humidifier present?
  4. So if the Bovy Boys will add the humidity to my stated RH wishes, after I had 'tossed', the humidifier of course, that the Bovy Boys (Bovedas), would still be able to function without seizing up?
  5. I am currently using a desk top humidor. So when I 'toss' my foam insert humidifier to the four winds, does that mean the Bovedas are not going to suck all of the moisture out of my prized cigars just to keep the humidor at the correct humidity level?
  6. Hi jmg. Got back from Amsterdam last week with a 10 box dated Jan '14, (in tubes). Going to be 'amping some up some what so will let you know some time this year! But what I'd really like to know is why my box of H Upmann Half Coronas is UBM JUN 17 just like your Punches are?
  7. Cheers guys, Have already tried them, closest I got was purified, or distilled industrial size from various websites! Think deionised will do for now.
  8. If you go to the cubancigarwebsite.com, click on cigars, and then humidors, you will see it stated that only distilled water should be used because deionised ''does not significantly remove uncharged organic molecules, viruses or bacteria, except by incidental trapping in the resin'' Here in London I cannot get distilled water anywhere. Halfords sent me to Leylands builders merchants who have told me that they are exactly the same, and that I should just use a cabbage leaf (but not too moist, mind) like he used to with his RyJ No.2's. I didn't like the 'used to' bit,so I'm not going there if you don't mind! Now I'm starting to think along the lines of purified, demineralised or even sanctified. But will stick with deionised for now along with the humidification solution.
  9. I don't fly much these days, but when I was a drunken sailor, it was Dubai International. Favourite airport was Koh Samui in Thailand.
  10. Definitely Petit Royales for me also.
  11. Yeah, just the 'dam, but now very interested in Almere. I know it's bad form to mention places, so I will use google to have a look.
  12. Hi Rob, I flew home from there last week with a nice haul from the Amsterdam shops, as you know the UK tobacco tax can give you cancer! I didn't go to the Exquisite store, but a big tobacco/spirits duty free store. They had about half a dozen different boxes of Cubans, and the same amount of Dutch cigars. Unfortunately for me, they are only sold for non EU flight passengers, so I didn't take much notice on prices plus the stock they had didn't excite me. So all I remember was seeing Party Aristocrats, and RyJ Mille Fleurs. Love this site, Cheers Boss.
  13. Petit Julietas have a lovely spicy finish.
  14. Had one last summer straight out of the shop, and it was a flavour bomb.
  15. I was smoking a lot of these this time last year in London fresh from the shop. They were pure leather, but the latest batch are not as good unless they need some ageing maybe.
  16. What vitola was it? I had a nice tasty Panatela in Amsterdam last week.
  17. Greetings all, I am a bit of a rum connoisseur, and while sipping one night I thought a cigar would go down nicely, but had no experience with them. Now 18 months later, cigars have taken my life from me! Last years favourite was RASCC from 2015 I believe, followed by some full flavoured Vegueros Mananitas believe it or not (pecan nuts, cream, and grass were all there), but this years are disappointing for me. So far this year, it's a toss-up between RASS and Petit Edmundo bought in B&M so presume new stock. Had a lot of helpful advice trolling this forum, so hope I can make some contributions to this forum along the way. Puff with me! Pommy Puffer.
