This is an early contender for thread of the week!

Amazing review and even better pics Rob. I feel like I was there.

I wasn't all that fussed to try the 50... but after that review I am now all but sold!!

Great review and pics.

I was just asking about about these dammit. Looking forward to it.

I loved it all but the super watch picture was pretty ***.

Sensational review and good laughs  ...

I'm having a PL Petit Corona while reading the review and now i know wht to smoke next :-D ...

I think i still have one exemple of the Mag.50, the one they handed over at the Fetival with the HdM Epicure Especial in the small wood box...

The only memories i have about it when i smoked it in April in Havana at Nacional was that flavors were a bit slow to come and complexity were close to Sir Winston rather than Mag.46...

Let see if still the same now...

Ahhh, a night to remember. Really good company, brilliant booze and some top rate cigars. Thanks again guys for the brilliant send off!

» Finally...the only rupture on the night was when Ken was questioning the disappearance of some silver cutlery.

I would like to point out that I would have stolen the silver if there was any, only old cricket bats and a half eaten lamb chop?

Great review Rob. To be honest, I just didn't have any faith in the release of the Magnum 50. With your stamp of approval, it seems they did a great job on the blend of the cigar....now if they would just realize that the 2nd big red band on the cigar is a bit of overkill - does the box come with a hat that says "Look at me"?;-)

I've been hoping that my wait for the Mag's wasn't going to be a disappointment - and now Rob and gang have given their stamp of approval.

I'm so looking forward to seeing these up for sale.

Thank you to Rob, Ken and Smithy for going the extra mile on this review.

I have to admit that that my expectations were also not high. This and a few other reviews has really made me look forward to firing up my first, and possibly putting some quantities down for some years to come.

Thanks Prez, and I agree with others that this was one of the best reviews in a while. Keep up the hard work!

Prez & FOH'ers,

I had the chance to smoke one of these at Buena Vista Cigar Club in Beverly Hills tonight. After reading your review earlier I was quite excited to see if I would have the same experience as you. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! Exactly as you had described, lots of smooth, rich, complex flavors, primarily coffee notes with a bit of nuttiness thrown in for good measure. Perfect draw and construction. Absolutely unbelievable smoke for its youth. This is the making of classic folks, and if all remains steady in their creation, everyone should jump on box if they can pronto!

Damn... sounds like another "must have".

Is it just me, or have there been too damned many of these "classics-to-be" in the last couple of years?

I surrender. Resistance is futile.

My missus was just making the same lament last night as I told her I would be needing to get a box of these.

A typical two week period at our place goes soemthing like this:

last week:

"that's it sweetie... I swear nothing else is coming out this year that I am going to need to get"

one week later

"sweetie.... ummm, there's this box, right.... ummmm and I really need to get it ... ummm ... no, listen for a sec..... but, you dont undertand......"

  • 2 weeks later...

You just have to keep reminding them of Bellog's famous line from the first Indiana Jones movie...

In a thousand years, even you may be worth something. winking0071.gif

I've taken the advice of many here and do not consult my wife about cigars. Thankfully she has no idea of the cost!
