Monte Sublimes EUP SEP08

A lot of people have been complaining about the construction of this cigar so I decided to weight the cigars from the 2 boxes I have. I can't find a published weight for this cigar but mine ran from 21.2 gr. to 15.5 gr. quite a swing. So I smoked the light weight.

Appearance: Good looking cigar but the other box I have SMG NOV08 looks much darker and shows more oils so I'm not really happy with the look of this box.

Construction: No real soft spots, but already knowing it's weight it's obviously no rock.

Aroma: Nice rich tobacco and coffee.

Draw: Very open.

Burn: Started good then got a little crooked, went out on me around 1/3 in which it shouldn't have, after relight it burned fine.

Time: 65 min.

Opening: Bittersweet chocolate from the first puff but a little sharp.

1/3: After 3/4 of an inch the sharpness went away and it started to get sweet with dark roasted coffee, tastes young but it tastes like a Monte on steroids.

2/3: Rich coffee flavor and cocoa.

Final: The best part, back to the beginning with bittersweet chocolate and no harshness at all.

I had some cocoa halfway thru this cigar because unlike some cigars that are dessert this one needed something rich to go with it. Took about the same time as a Mag 48 to smoke which isn't right but the tobacco is tasty. If you can, get a look at your box before you buy and bring your scale. The other box I have SMG NOV08 looks great, there's a photo of both wrappers. Time will defiantly help the flavor but not the filling.

Score: 86-88

Thanks, that means that only 3 of 20 are underweight, 13 are mid-eighteen or higher. That's really good, so almost all of them are heavy and the other two light one are 16.1 and 16.3.

I'll take that any day.

I love this cigar. It is not only one of my favorite Montes...but one of my favorite cigars overall. Sadly a lot of people disagree with me.
