Wallabies' loss to Scotland - Please explain

Recommended Posts

Again...Congratulations to Scotland :o

Regarding the woeful wallabies.

Take

  • A team where the majority play for pay packets.
  • A team with serious internal disharmony.
  • A fly half who has a chip on both shoulders and the inability to set up leggo blocs let alone a backline.
  • An inside centre who is a fly half.
  • An outside centre who's rugby career so far can only be defined as "lack lustre"
  • A game plan which has been taken from an under 10's B grade side.
  • A Line out which takes 2 minutes to set and then is only competitive against the Japanese.
  • A forward pack which can't count how many players it takes to clear a ruck let alone protect one.
  • A coach who is technically excellent but who cannot set the required culture of a bunch of overpaid, over rated rugby players.

And you get:

That piss poor embarrassment of a team which shames our national emblem.

wanted it more

actually i think they simply wanted it. our blokes didn't care. overpaid, waste of spaces. i actually feel sorry for england. we play one half decent half of footy and it was against your mob - unlucky. actually, we were not all that good then either.

we are diabolical. no ticker, no interest.

when o'connor came on late (and made our only decent half break), we finally had someone who actually wanted the ball. giteau didn't. worst 5/8 since knox or walker. perhaps try him at fullback? do something because his virus of utter dis-interest is killing the team. i will lose all faith in deans if giteau plays 5/8 this week.

mind you, not a lot of faith left after he 'rested' our man of the match from ireland - pocock is far and away our best and so gets dropped for an out-of-form george smith. i have been the biggest smith fan for years but he has lost it at the moment. can anyone seriously magine the all blacks resting mccaw on a grand slam tour after he was man of the match? absurd.

and palu is the most overrated number 8 since, gosh i can't think of anyone more overrated. stephen moore had to try hard not to score that try. unbelievable. seriously, any international player in that position who was determined to score would have. these puffed up talentless hacks assume that they have a right to big money and an automatic spot in the side and get the hump if anyone suggests otherwise.

i really hope deans drops giteau. it might put some sense into the rest.

the attitude was summed up when o'neill and deans wanted a trial match before the tour - given all other touring sides in the northern hemisphere went off and had extra games, you'd think our bloeks would fall over themselves for it. NO. they would play it if they were paid extra. deans should have come straight out then and said fine but those that don't play won't be considered. end of story.

there are about two players in that side i have respect for. the rest can bugger off to japan and chase dollars and the sooner the better.

would anyone in that team have pushed their way into either the 91 or 99 world cup team? not the way they are playing. not one.

Is it me...or are there no good teams at the moment? Wales, South Africa and France are not too shabby, but everyone else is dire. What the hell has happened?

There's been lots of talk in England about the players spending too much time in the gym and not enough time of skills. Hence we get treated to these displays of attritional yawning. Didn't believe it at first but there may be some truth in it.

Otherwise, well done the Scots. By the looks of it, they were on the irn-bru early doors

Couldn't agree more

Why don't the ARU try this. Cut pay packets all round. Increase funding to junior rugby - obviously the present bunch are really not going to do anything significant so lets look to the future. Cut the prices to test match tickets etc - generate some interest in the game in young people and hope that it filters through eventually to the senior level.

It was so obvious that the game against Scotland was going to be a shocker - heads were down after the Ireland game and once that happens these players do not have the mental fortitude to regroup - so a loss was on the cards. The Scots knew this as they rated their chances in the press - normally a red rag to a bull for most opposition teams - indeed one would have thought that such statements would be plasted all over the Wallabies dressing room and everyone would be breathing fire to shove it up them. But instead the Scots read the mood correctly and rather than motivate the aussies their statements of likely success just seemed to confound the wallabies more.

Really shows that there is no self belief at all in this playing group. In which case they have to look elsewhere - starting from the coach down.

nice in theory.

unfortunately not so easy when they have contracts, though i wish it were otherwise. and again, easy to say re junior rugby but have to have the dosh to do it.

i thought there was a massive stuff up when after the 2003 world cup when interest was at an all time high, the ARU didn't insist that seven show the super 14 on free to air, even if delayed. huge missed opportunity. dumb.

and now that connolly is suing o'neill and the ARU, there'll be even less money.
