H. Upmann Regalias MAM NOSU (Las Mambisas Oct/98)

Recommended Posts

Early Saturday evening, before going out with friends for dinner, a quiet moment for a smoke.

Some fine wines coming up later, so something easy on the palate...

Ah, yes, those old Regalias, haven't had one of those for a while,

usually smoke the hand-made '05s.

A Petit Coronas 42 x 129. Lovely, silky wrapper, true colorado.

Good weight in hand, no hard or soft spots, no veins. Seems promising.

Once clipped, the draw is just on the tight side of perfect.

Once lit, the burn is straight, and remains so to the end.

Construction is virtually perfect. Smoke volume is excellent.

Flavours are pure Upmann - mild to the tongue, yet rich and very deep.

Good Cuban tobacco, with herbal accents and a hint of silage or decomposing leaves.

Evokes the scent of a northern forest in early spring.

No bean flavours, no pepper, it is all leafy vegetation, subtle yet complex, and really pleasant.

No real change as the cigar progresses, but a continual intensification of the tastes and sensations that were present from the first puff.

The ash was dense, and dropped only twice, leaving a perfectly formed burning cone behind.

Right down to one inch, where I let it go, there was no tar nor any unpleasant bitterness.

This cigar left me with a feeling of comfort and satisfaction, and a refreshing, delicate aftertaste.

A super performance from a machine-made cigar, shaming many of its so-called betters.

My score : a solid 91.

Great review, but from what I see no photos.

Photos play a big part of any review. I notice most guys here now don't do this...back in my days we have guys that would even disect cigars to show how it was built, and remove wrapers...........

Photos are great but they are a pain in the butt.....Yes, I prefer pics in the reviews but for my personal reviews, I dont have the time nor the effort to do them since most of my reviews are at night, outside

I agree with you that pictures are everything, but I will take a review of anykind over nothing at all.
