Ken Gargett Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 i know that a number of guys have posted re hewitson wines they've enjoyed. thought this might be of interest. NBC Today Show: Mad for Mad Hatter Publication: International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 09) Title: Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - 2006 Hewitson Shiraz The Mad Hatter Comment: Deep, bright violet. Intensely floral bouquet displays dark berries, cola, violet, wilted rose and Asian spices. Fleshy and smooth in texture, offering sweet dark berry flavors and betraying no rough edges. Impressively sappy on the finish, which strongly repeats the floral and cola notes. 91 points Author: Josh Raynolds Publication: James Halliday - Wine Companion 2010 (Sep 2009) Title: James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion 2010 - 2006 Hewitson "The Mad Hatter" Shiraz Comment: A single-vineyard wine with 20 months in French oak, which is counter-cultural in its elegant, medium-bodied profile and moderate alcohol; red fruits and touches of mocha and chocolate predominate. Rating 94 points Author: James Halliday Publication: The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 (Sep 2009) Title: The Penguin Good Australian wine Guide 2009 - 2006 Hewitson "The Mad Hatter" Shiraz Comment: Great McLaren Vale Shiraz marries richness and softness in an irresistibly charming fashion. The brightness of this 06 is striking; it delves headlong into pure ripe dark berries and spicy lifted fruits, and has already eaten up the oak, shows terrific intensity and richness. The palate has great drive and direction, delivering deep plum and spice flavours with finesse, rolled out on plush ripe tannins; long, composed finish. Rating 96 points Author: Nick Stock Publication: The Wine Advocate (Feb 2009) Title: Wine Advocate #181 - 2006 Hewitson "The Mad Hatter" Shiraz 92pts Comment: The 2006 Shiraz The Mad Hatter spent 21 months in new French oak. Purple-colored, it delivers an alluring perfume of pain grille, black pepper, plum, blueberry, and blackberry. Dense and powerful on the palate, this layered Shiraz will continue to unwind over the next 6-8 years and provide prime drinking from 2015 to 2030. The reliable Hewitson winerys new releases are uniformly outstanding. Colt45 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Dear Sir, If you would take the time to read the few forum regulations, you will see that as per rule three, there is no shilling allowed. And though I do realize it is technically in relation to cigars, I think you would agree that in the spirit of the rule, it would apply here as well. Thank you. P.S. you could at least spread the kickback out to your fellow mods, and what are your own thoughts on the wine? P.P.S. kudos to you for actually posting this in the proper forum

P.P.S. kudos to you for actually posting this in the proper forum i was so concerned to find the right part of the forum, i neglected other "rules" although, as they say, when the cat is away... actually, they have no idea i have so pasted and nor do i receive any form of kickback rom anyone, sadly. i am happy to withdraw it but i saw there was a connection to international stockists and with a number of the forum enjoying dean's wines, thought it might have been of interest. i will refrain from grinch references.
anacostiakat Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 My God, man! Why would you subject anyone to those two hens?
