Kangaroo495 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Picked this out of the humi last night. Made a quadruple ristretto to go with it. Aroma cold: Nothing much to speak of, other than slight tobacco Construction: Exceptional. 10/10. Just as good as any NC, but not loose! Firm draw. Perfect draw, I would say Cut: No probs here After light aroma: Tobacco-ey First third: Fkn hell! This was incredible! The comlexity of flavours is probably something I've never experienced before. The first third could be divided into 3 parts. 1. Montecristo style - nutty, with a beautiful tobacco undertone. 2. San Cristobal - cherry 3. Bolvar - leather. Second third: All the above combined into one massively rich flavour. Went into a stupor smoking this. Had all of the above, as well as the tobacco undernote. But relatively little sweetness. More of a dry taste. This was building into one of the classic cigars I've ever smoked. At about half way, I tapped the ash (which was grey and perfectly straight, indicating again, that the construction was spot on) Third third: Unfortunately after I tapped the ash, the cigar went a little down hill. Burn started getting uneven, and the cigar suddenly became overbearingly strong. Could not longer pick up the nuiances in flavours. Smoked about half of the last third, and put him down. Conclusion: Too young! F*ck! The first half was one of the most captivating cigar experiences I've had. No doubt, with a bit of age, the cigar will be brilliant from start to finish. 91/100
cigarros Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Thx for sharing! Sounds good, would be interesting to compare with MC2))
El Presidente Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Dipomatico's have such a unique flavour profile that I adore. For me... Part Monte, Part Upmann, Part Partagas. When "on" the Dip 2 captures the best of these other three piramides.
thechenman Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Kanga...thanks for the review. I personally have not had many good experiences with the Dip2. I've wanted to, but it hasn't materialized. Still...I think I will keep trying.
MontrealRon Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Great review! My mouth is watering just from reading it. My experience with Dips has been limited to mostly older smokes. Looks like the recent ones are better than ever.
ksblazer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I was gifted an 07 earlier this year and was very impressed. It had that good rich flavor you were talking about. Just out of curiousity. What was the date on the one you reviewed? You said it was a little young? Were they 08's?

I guess there's even the possibility that they're 09s! Yes, the harshness in the second half would indicate that they were perhaps too young.
