Bunburyist...great topic...I like this thread.

I deliberated a bit on this, but ended up going with Partagas for the breadth of choices and the price. Considered Boli, but I enjoy the flavor profile of the Partagas more. The reason it was tough is that like Kanga...I love my Montes, but on $4 a day and the Monte price point...it makes it tough to select them. In paradise...you want to be able to smoke more often, right?

Thanks for the thread.

thanks mate. The $4 daily restriction is what makes it interesting, otherwise of course we'd just have 90% going with Cohiba :rotfl:

If it wasn't for the inconsistency I seemed cursed with with Partagas, it would be an automatic choice for me. Huge range, okish price and occasionally 90+ smokes.

Will be interesting to see, once a few more votes are in, to ask the Czar guys if it even remotely reflects their actual sales figures.

I'd considered, briefly, RyJ for the variety of sizes/styles available, but wouldn't want to be bound to any/all.

Even with an unlimited budget, I wouldn't pick Cohiba. They're wonderful, but I would get bored...

Tampa...I guess you don't care for the variety, huh. I thought about RA as well, but I opted to go with a marca with a bit more diversity. I figured that since I'm in paradise, I now have the opportunity to experiment more.

Ramon Allones for me

who said anything about paradise?

these monkeys, they're clever, but they're no lookers eh. Nice enough bunch, but their bbq chat is a bit one-dimensional....and they all support Arsenal. And they cheat at golf.

My decision came down to Partagas and Bolivar. I decided to go Bolivar as they are a little less expensive overall and I just about have smoke a Bolivar everytime I go to the cigar lounge. That said I'd be really wanting a good Partaga to change things up after a few weeks there.

Looks like Boli's and Partagas are the top 2 in the pole so far.

Dude you got cigars, golf and fishing...yes a little female companionship would definitely be welcome, but how greedy can you be...?

:rotfl: let me think about that...

At $4 a day, most of the Partagas would take several days to get a smoke in. With Ramon Allones, I could smoke a cigar just about everyday! Remenber Mille Fluers!!!

For me this was a toss-up btween Diplo (#4's & #5's) and Boli ( Pc's, coronas jr., Bonita's), I like the size's and profiles of these smokes, and I can get one in a day price wise, I would go with the Boli's- the Diplo 4's and 5's are very similar taste wise, while the Boli pc's, cor jr's, and bonita's aren't so similar, a little more variety in taste, as the same smoke every day could get boring, bad enough I gotta see the same monkey's every day.

Damn, this is a tough one as there are so many I love....

Ok, I'll pick Vegas just over the Bolivar!

I could easily take either Bolivar, Partagas, Ramon Allones and Upmann.

I'm going to go Partagas because their range is so huge, reliable and interesting.

There is always the Parti Short, a burst of cuban flavor and you could have a stick every day.

Interesting - was waiting for the results to go above 100 but had forgotten about this.

In terms of analysis, I'd say there are a few points worth considering.

Firstly (and I guess no surprise) that Bolivar and Partagas come out tops. Their wide selection (esp Party), reasonable-ish price and all round top 5 flavour made them stand outs from the beginning.

A surprise for me was Por Larrañaga getting a respectable wedge of the votes, more even than Punch. I suspect this might have something to do with Rob voting for PL, and others being influenced?

The biggest surprise for me however is the lowly 2 votes for Romeo y Julieta. Is it not one of the major, biggest selling brands in the world? RyJ hasn't got any greats in its line up imo, but I think the Churchill and Short Churchill are great smokes. Perhaps the ideal candidate for a shake up of that line then - maybe cut some of the non-performers and improve could-be-greats like the belicosos?

I also expected brands like Ramon Allones and Vegas Robaina to have done better, but I guess when it comes to the crunch people prefer the safety of Bolivar, Upmann or Partagas.

All bearing in mind of course that most people voting on here are seasoned / educated cigar smokers, so it's really only a view from one side of the market.

I'd be interested to know if these results reflect actual sales %s?
