matt14 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Just checked my locker and I have `04 boxes of Boli Bonita`s, Upmann connie 1 and Cohiba Robusto. Have asked Lisa to ship them out to me now. I have `06 CoRo`s and a single stick from `08, also have a single stick of the `08 connie 1, would be interesting to do a side by side comparison of then with a 2 year aged gap between them. May be my next task once they have a while to settle from their Journey. They will be coming from Oz the the UK then the UK back to Vietnam!! Should get them a frequent fllyer card!!
thechenman Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Matt...would love to hear how your '04s are smoking if you get a chance to post your thoughts...thanks. And I agree, after a trip like that, they should get air miles. Do you mind if I ask why you don't have them shipped directly to Vietnam, being that Southeast Asia is so much closer to Oz than the UK.

They have a zero policy on tobacco imports, which I found out after ordering online, first order of Piedras went through fine no questions so put in a few boxes from Lisa and some from elsewehere, when the first from Lisa arrived got both barrels from the customs guy, well my wife did!! They open every single box/parcel coming in or out. After he was through with bollocking the missus she gave me a shortened version which basically was ` cannot ` . My reply was, you had better get back in there and let him know there`s more coming!! They did let them through with a little `coffee` money, official line is its fine to give coffee mine no more than 300,000 dong, (18,000- $1) any more is a bribe, so small bribes are fine!! But no more!! Back in the UK on some family business so its easy just to get them sent there and carry back, unfortuenatly I left it to late to get them out to me in time so that one will have to wait until my usualy mule come over from Melbourne for a few weeks!!

OLS Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 1/2 box Sublime (smoked these way to early, kick myself everytime i see the box!!)I DISTINCTLY remember telling you and several others not to do that. Butbecause I am a known Ahole, most people just smoked away. "Oh, I just had to gauge them off the truck. The first one was so bad that I smoked another to make sure I was not "tasting things". I am sitting on 4 cabs of BBF (KMMs), 2 Monte 2, 3 cabs of BPC50 and some other random single boxes that escape me here at work. But I sold most of my 04 stock earlier in the year. That's why I bought it, what the hell.
tigger Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I make my own decisions regarding when to smoke cigars or not smoke them based upon my past experience and past advice from knowledgeable people who, by consistently showing that they knew what they were talking about over the long term, earned my respect as time passed. I don't own any 04's. Much like Tampa, I was both buying older, more proven cigars in '03/04, and smoking some of what I had purchased in prior years.
matt14 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Throughly enjoyed everysingle sublime I have smoked as where friends that I gifted some to, which is what its all about for me. All done and dusted a cigar is just a cigar. I now smoke one only on my birthday and enjoy how they are prgressing. The `06`s where a different beast on release to what they are now. In an ideal world I would have 10 identical boxes of everything, not going to happen though. I dont regret smoking them just wish I jumped all over them at the time, didnt make that mistake with the `06`s!!
DAFU Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 '04 Petit Coronas del Punch...................sampled a few from my box and they are pretty good now, but staying away as I think they will be much better in a couple years. For me I have had the worst luck with '05s, much preferreing '03s and '06s. All the more recent stuff seems pretty good.
ChanceSchmerr Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Almost forgot 6 boxes of RA 8-0-8`s . They had a haul of them at Dubai DF picked up mainly `02`s first time through then cleared them out of the best boxes of 02,04`s the las time through. I got the last box they had just a week or two ago........but no box date! They smell and look divine....
MPS Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 My 05's need time still. On the other hand my PSD4's from 04 are incredible right now.
mm12 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 VR Familiares: Just awesome. Cohiba Esplendidos: Very good. Have a nice sweet/herbal flavor to them. Monte 2: Mediocre. Punch Punch: Wildly inconsistent. I'd say 20% are amazing 94 point smokes, 40% are merely ok, and 40% are total garbage.
