jamesward Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I thought I would break it down on one of my favorites - the Montecristo Edmundo. The wife was out with her friends and the kids were in bed by 8 o'clock. Given the near perfect weather you get in Tokyo at this time of year, the time right to light up. If you have never smoked an Edmundo, I hope I can persuade you to try one. The Edmundo at 135mm and 52 gauge it is a sightly over sized robusto of sorts. It is named after Edmundo Dantes all Edmundos are tripa larga, totalmente a mano - long filler, totally hand made using medium to full-bodied blend of Vuelta Abajo Pre-light: great construction - dark, slightly oily coat, with a beautiful draw. Rich, wood-like flavors; sweet spices and tobacco flavors. Burn: wonderfully consistant. Tangy, citrus flavors in the beginning which settles down into a nice oaky, deep and rich smoke. Nothing hidden here - what you are smoking is going to go all the way down to the nub with you. If you like Bolivar Royal Corona or the Roman Allones Specially Selected, the Montecristo Edmundo will be to your liking I would guess. One difference: I smoke a lot of cigars, as i am sure that the members of this forum do. I am used to and enjoy the buzz of a good cigar. However, the Edmundo is different. The Edmundo hits you like a sack of potatoes about half way through. God what a buzz. Not for the part-time players. This smoke is the real deal. Take a shot...
android Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Nice review...I have been enjoying a few boxes of 06's.
maalouly Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Great review and I agree with you 100% I also have a box of edmundo's from an 05 and they are great to smoke I enjoy them alot. They have some similarities in taste to the RASS and BRC mixed together.
Kangaroo495 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I once had one which was "on", and remember smoking it so low that the width of the cigar was greater than the length (using just fingers). Love monty! This and the PE and Especial#2 are all very similar.
thechenman Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Thanks for the great review. I agree with you on this being one great cigar. Never had one as old as '05, but even the recent production, IMHO, smokes great.
