I thought we'd seen a one off freak perfomance in Beijing.....but 9.58 seconds?!?!?

Watching the vid just now...that is absolutely incredible. For *** to come in at 9.71 breaking all previous US records, and still be utterly blown away is simply awesome.

There will be a lot of this talk for sure, but Usain Bolt really must be one of those once in lifetime atheltes. That he does it whilst crossing the line with his head turned checking out his time...what the hell? And at only 22, the suggestion would be that he can go faster. Just incredible.

He sure is, I think he is a great athlete, just hope he's not involved in any illegal steroids that hasn't been detected as yet, as you said he is just an amazing sprinter the best I have ever seen to date.

mind blowing performance! I love the replay where you can see Asafa, Usain and Tyson from front... You can see and feel the intensity of the race... Wow!

I've never seen Usain so insecure as he always looked on his side to see where was Tyson. He knew he was winnning but to feel somebody so close to him was new for him.

In sport you always need to be 2 to perform great, so imagine when you have 3 of that kind!!!

i remember Ben Johnson run the 100m when he beat carl lewis and i remember thinking, no way can go faster than that. 9.58 is mind blowing. Anyone thing we will see a 9 second 100m? Never though someone would take .5 sec off a 10 second 100 meter

I may be in the minority here but I think we will see a 9 second 100 Meter in the next 20 years. The performance of elite athletes has room for improvement in several ares: weight and skill based training, ideal nutrition and psychological preparation. Will we ever find the perfect training methods in these areas? I say no, because every single athlete is different genetically. Certain athletes respond well to a more passive style of coaching and others need to be yelled at, certain athletes are gifted with the ability to recover with less rest than others and finally some athletes are just more disciplined than others.
