BKilla13 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I just recieved my box of 25 R y J coronitas en cedro's. I bought them for my wedding which is in 10 days. I read that you need to place them in a humi for a couple weeks to settle or balance out or whatever, well I dont have a humi yet so what should I do to make sure these things are ready to smoke in 10 days? Am I better off keeping them in their shipping wrappers? I want to keep the box intact untill the day of my wedding. I have a cooler that is big enough should I put them in there with a sponge or something? I am a complete noob so I really need some help. Thanks.
Colt45 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 A clean cooler or tupperware type container will work fine. Personally. I wouldn't bother with the sponge - what's your weather like? If it's hot and humid like it has been here, I'd be more apt to use a desiccant - rh beads or crystal cat litter with no water added. Congrats on the pending nuptials. P.S. each question costs 25¢
Shelby07 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Interesting situation... here's what I'd suggest. Today... Get a Tupperware container that the box will fit in. Head out to your local cigar shop and pick up a couple of the Bovida humidity packs (65%) take off the cellophane on the outside of the box and put the cigars in the Tupperware container along with the humidity packs. Seal the container and leave them somewhere below 70 deg F. There is also a company called Humidipak that makes humidor bags large enough to store one or 2 boxes. They are usually available at your local B&M also. I believe they only come in 70% RH so if you go that route I'd suggest that you take the box out of the bag the night before the wedding. Leave them alone until the wedding (don't be opening and closing them to take a peek.) Put the word out that a nice humidor would make a great wedding gift. Congratulations.
BKilla13 Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Congrats on the impending wedding mate! Thanks man.
BobLobLaw Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 P.S. each question costs 25¢ Good thing you asked him about the weather Colt! Now you guys are even!
thechenman Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Congratulations on your upcoming nuptuials. Cigars to celebrate is always a good idea. Both Colt and Shelby's advice are great. If you have a local B&M though, the Boveda solution is probably simpler and cheaper.
