My money is on Hughes being the first manager to get the boot. After all the massive spending I don't see the new owners putting up with any mediocre performances or poor start to the season. I'm afraid Hughes is out of his depth with all of those big signings (well, big for him at least). A top four or five finish for them, even with that useless tw*t Adebayor playing up front.

I'm a Man U fan myself, but without CR and Tevez (he was criminally under used last season) I don't see a good season ahead, how low do you have to scrape the barrel in order to make Michael Owen the best signing of the summer ? Absolutely disgusting....

Chelsea could do it but with Ancelotti who knows, everyone thought Scolari would win the league but look what happened with him.

Liverpool ? if they sell Alonso they can kiss the league goodbye, even if they don't I think it's a big ask for them to win it. They overrate themselves every season.

Arsenal......maybe they could do it, just maybe. If Van Persie stays fit and Fabregas/Arshavin keep their form then just maybe. Although losing Toure might be a big blow.

It's probably the most open league it has ever been, anyone in the big 4 (excl City) could win it.

* Chelsea

* Arsenal

* Man U

* Man City

* Liverpool

I have been a man city fan all my life (having been born there) they are the only True Manchester team.And on paper we have a good team this year lets hope they jell quickly.

We have been in the wilderness for far to long....

Man U - champs

Liverpool

Chelsea

Fulham

Arsenal

Man City has spent a lot of money, just not sure what you can do with 7 strikers and no world class defenders. They better hope that Everton can somehow be convinced to sell Lescott.

I think football teams have their own cycles based on the maturity of key players, mix of youth and experience and luck (injuries etc...). :D

Man U: has been at the top, its key players at their peak. However, Scholes, Giggs, Neville are past their prime and have not been replaced yet. Selling Ronaldo and Tevez, two players at their peak, admittedly with attitude problems, will not help. They are on the downward slope. #4

Chelsea: again many players just past their prime but still a force to contend with, especially if Ancelotti can keep everyone focused. Problem: with the African Nations Cup, they will lose Drogba, Mikel, Essien for a long period of time at a key junction (December/January), and those coming back might be injured. Just past the peak, but not too far down the slope just yet. #3

Arsenal: they peaked in 2004/05 and have been re-building ever since. With key players one year older, Arshavin enjoying his first full season, they could be contenders again. If Fabregas, Van Persie and a few first team members stay fit (lack of depth is a concern) they will surprise as the team on the way up that slope. Go Gunners! #2

Liverpool: The team with the most players at their peak. Gerrard and Torres at the top of their game. With Glen Johnson at right back, they finally have a defense. If they can keep Alonso, they will win it. #1

Surprise package: Everton. David Moyes has been doing a fantasttic job and they might challenge for a top 4 finish.

Here is my prediction:

1) Liverpool

2) Arsenal

3) Chelsea

4) Man U

5) Everton

SOme interesting predictions here. Have to say I can't see Citeh crashing the top 4this year, but you never know. Also agree that I think Hughes will make it to Christmas, but if they're not challenging for Europe he's out the door.

ManU will struggle this year - still a great team - but adjusting to the loss of two great players will be tough. And when I say struggle...that's a relative. My predictions are:

1. Chelsea

2. Man U

3. Liverpool

4. Tottenham

5. Everton (if they keep Lescott)

6. Man City

7. Aston Villa

I think it will be a three-way battle at the top, probably going down to the wire. Nobody looks outstanding this year.

Rob, how could you? But the first step to salvation is admitting that you have a problem . . . .

Top 3 most vile certainly. along with The Scum and Chelski.
