mkz Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 As seen in prevoius thread http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...showtopic=98014 one of my favourite PC´s didnt perform better than some stinking NC-cameroon. This has bothered me for the last two days so I simply had to try another one... I´m glad I did! Tons of dark roasted coffee and the darkest chokolate. Heavy tobacco, yet smooth on the edges with no signs of youthful harshness. Finished of with hints of tasty salty licorice. Perfect burn and draw. Rock solid 90/100!! Obviously the previous one was some kind of dud and I have already forgotten about its suffocating sweetness.

Here's my review of the last #2 no4s I smoked - one of them today :-( Smoked two of these from 2 different boxes of 10 - '07 and '08. They were pretty poorly constructed: tight draw, uneven burn, even an exploding wrapper. I was asking for it with the last one, selected it because of its tightly packed appearance. In a Trinidad, this would mean a perfect draw, but in an MC no4, I was waiting for a clenched-cheeks experience. It did not disappoint. After a gentle massage, then a chiropractic adjustment with an east european intensity (still no joy), i rolled up the sleeves and rammed it with a bbq poke. The cheeks unclenched, reluctantly. Leather, oak, a hint of earth, maybe even coffee, and some chocolate rewarded my relentless efforts - every now and again. Pity about the lopsided burn. These cigars taste great when you get a decently rolled one - but is it worth the risk and the wastage when buying boxes sight unseen?
dicko Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Thanks for the review and follow up! yeah look I've had maybe half a dozen of these (from various sources all bought as singles - one of the only sticks available relatively widely where I am), and they all seemed to be more of a medium body and flavour, more coffee cream rather then the 'darker' flavours you describe. just looking around the foh boards lots of blokes are having some different experiences. maybe the fact that they make so many of them produced means there is inherently inconsistencyof flavour profiles across the entire release...i dunno. i would have rated mine between 83 for th worst and 88 for best
