they just never get better.

have not detailed telstra's latest escapades, largely because it sends the blood pressure soaring, but they gave me an absolute week of hell - came about because some imbecile in downtown bombay decided that because some bloke in victoria - about 2,000 kilometres away - had a dud modem, so must i, so he decided to send me a new one. really don't care if they do but he didn't tell me that would mean shutting mine down till the new one arrived and no way of reactivating it. so off air for days.

then they sent me someone else's modem and so on and so on. that is just scraping the surface of the farce i have been through.

i will try and detail it but the highlight was when i asked one bloke if there was anyone there that i could speak to who was not a complete gibbering moron.

no, he says, the only people here are from the tech department.

finally got things up and running - not perfect but okay.

then phone goes - saturday arvo. scottish accent. tells me he'll be here in ten minutes, that he is just around the corner.

i ask who the hell he is.

the telstra technician.

oh, terrific but what the hell do you want with me?

he has to do the transfer and something else.

i tell him that after a week of hell, i finally have the thing going well enough and if anyone from telstra comes near me, bodily harm will ensue.

he rattles off endless tech stuff (i'm still thinking this is a prank call) and what he must do etc etc. this goes on for a while. he then says well if i don't want him, he'll cancel things. we discuss just what will happen if any else from telstra cancels things. i will become a handgun advocate.

anyway, he says, almost there. he is in such and such a street. i've never heard of it. it turns out he is in adelaide. about 3,000 kilometres away. it just got more and more bizarre.

telstra are seriously the worst company that has ever existed, in this world or any other.

You should have let him come over. Then told him at the door her wasn't needed. Would have served them right having that cost of the service call.

i have no doubt he would have gone to whatever address he had to try and work out this latest debacle.

and in the brief meantime, i have just had an email from telstra noting i have a new location - the one i moved to nearly two years ago.

in a previous life, the admin of telstra were scriptwriters for the keystone cops.

the world's most incompetent telecommunications company. was the state run mob of incompetents before it was sold off to become the private mob of incompetents.

did they float mid 80's? i have a feeling it was when i was living there and that the float was very profitable for first in investors, but perhaps i am thinking of something else. but i cannot begin to imagine that they could be worse than ours.

received a copy of a letter of complaint from a mate which i have asked rob to post. not one i wrote but will help give you an idea of what complete gibbering idiots 99% of telstra is.

Well if it makes you feel any better Ken, I have that new sensor light for your driveway.

I'll see if I can get some time next week and pop around and install it for you.

Cheers Mate
