Deeks Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I wasn't too hungry at lunch today, so I walked across the street to my local cigar shop and grabbed a BBF. Box code: TEB MAY 08 It's a hard stick to describe, so I'll do my best. From the beginning this stick was full of flavor. The smoke was thick and creamy and seemed to coat my mouth. The first third was full of wood and tea flavors. Medium bodied, but very tasty. In the second third it progressed into a full bodied smoke. The wood flavor remained and was joined by notes of leather, milk chocolate and a hint of spice. The final third saw more spice and a concentration of wood, leather and chocolate. I should do lunch at the cigar shop more often. There's no doubt why this is a classic smoke.
El Presidente Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Recent BBF have been excellent Deeks. One of the great comeback stories of 07/08 alongside HDM Epicure 2/Magnum 46
bigfunkyg Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I had a very similar experience witth a BFF a a month or so ago that I reviewed which was a fantastic cigar and prompted me to aqquire a box. My first experience with the box wasn't as good (but still good). I'm hoping that they improve with a few months of aging. The box was I believe JAN 08 but I dont recall the factory code.

I think it'll be the next box I buy. If only they were a little bigger.

It's definitely full and robust but also so well integrated. As an aside, as an American I'm jealous of you being able to walk across the street and buy a Havana cigar. Stupid embargo.
bassman Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Bolivar is my favorite brand, but for some reason the BBF just doesn't do it for me. Last ones I tried were JUN 07 & the flavor just wasn't there. No big deal- plenty of other Bolivars to buy.
josie67 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 weird, for me, the 2008 BBF's (from several different boxes) have been the biggest pieces of crap i have smoked in a while....very bland, very boring, very one dimensional.
