More personal than I normally like to get here, but........

My better half away for the week, I took the week off from work, and spent the past four days trying to get crap done around the house.

(note to prospective first time home buyers - rent and keep your weekends free).

My to do list pretty much caught up with, I decided today would be the day to take off and head into town, my goals being a late lunch in the north

end (Boston's Little Italy), and at least one cigar in one of Boston's cigar bars.

Lunch - fantastic. A beer while waiting, a glass of wine with a perfect pasta dish, and a post meal limoncello. It made my week. Off to cigar lounge

number one. I purchased a cigar, but smoked my own Bolivar Corona Gigantes with a couple of beers, all the while watching the sights of Boston

go by. In my mind, I lamented missing Professor Twain and friends during his last trip, but smiled knowing I'll see them again - soon.

What next? Cigar bar number two. Purchased and smoked a cigar along with a couple of beers and a prosecco - finally tried sparkling wine with

a cigar - excellent. Next up, a cafe for a double espresso, then another favorite haunt for a small gelato. What the heck, stopped for one more beer.

Get home to find my Lucrecia and Pio Leiva CDs waiting for me. Twist my arm, I'll open a bottle of vino....... I won't use the cliche "life is good"

but I will say that every once in a while, we can forget the crap, if just for a short while......

Outtakes..... Everything is going great. Get to cigar lounge two, cigar is lit, beer is opened. Reach for drink menu...... knock over beer - it's all good.

Jogging across major thoroughfare, leather three finger cigar case (with cigars) falls into middle of road. I pick my spot and rescue said case before

it is run over. Hey, I deserve that last beer.......

So now I listen to Lucrecia and Pio, sampling a pinot I bought against better judgement, but hey......... top o' the world!!

Hilarous Colt.. Sounds like one heck of a day.. If you'd had a pedicure, there'd been nothing left to do!

One of your better posts Colt :cigar: As much as it pained you to write it... I enjoyed reading it.

btw... that little Gelato shop you visited... I'm sure there is a very good chance it happens to be the same one my uncle took me to when I was there last. He's lived in Boston for 30 years and took me tall all his favourite spots. I can't recall the name... but I'll email him and ask him.

Yes. Hypothetically speaking, I may have been born and raised in one of Boston's neighborhoods, but in reality, I reside on a remote south pacific

island, where I can obtain and smoke Cuban cigars without peril ( maybe even Isle of Man).

If you are ever in the vicinity, I may be able to direct you to a few interestibg spots (please leave Smithy at home)

I'm looking forward to visiting Boston for the first time this July with the family. Right after a few nights in NY. While I enjoy cigar bars I too like to buy one there to support them, but bring and smoke my own.

H2K, I don't know what your itinerary is, but in my opinion, don't worry about cigars. Boston reminds me alot of Paris - a living, breathing history.

I'd be more concerned about wearing comfortable shoes - you can, and should, walk everywhere. There is much to see and do, but it's all

in a fairly compact area.

July can be hot and sweaty as a mofo, but Boss Town In the summer.......... I love that dirty water!

Great revew mate, laughed myself stupid at the outtakes. The leave Smithy comment at home called has just reminded me that you should check the next lot of outtake for our review, I am suspecting your going to feature heavily.

Absolutely. I was there in March of 2006. It was pretty bloody cold... but coming from where I do I'm used to it.

We had the year's first frosts two weeks ago... and it still wasn't officially winter - it was a beautiful Autumn with some brilliant colours. Smoking outside was a treat and very gratifying.

btw: are you anywhere near Newbury?

there will be a few guys down the north end this thursday the 11th, for a red sox herf, it would be great to meet you guys.

That couldn't have taken too long, now could it.

Not close, but not really that far. I used to spend quite a bit of time up on Plum Island, Gloucester, and Rockport.

Damn colt, I didn't realize you were local?

Greg, I'd actually thought of sending you a pm, but it would have been last minute, and I also thought it might seem a bit "strange".

Thomas, wish I could - I'll be back to work.

Great post Colt. I loved my years in Boston. Spent more than a few afternoons kicking around the North End by myself. Watching the old men play Bocce ball and fight. Always miss it in the Spring.

I enjoyed Boston few years ago on Christmas and still do not understand why you guys do not put up a nice Club as there are a lot of great places to smoke. Stanza'sssss in first in the Italian area.

I have to come in summer, I'm sure I will enjoy more.

I loved my years in Boston.

GP, I try to get in as often as possible, and still have family in the old neighborhood. But it's a rarity that I'm able to stop in one of the lounges for a cigar.

Gino, I think there are a number of groups that gather informally on a fairly regular basis. Even though the recent city ordinance bars new lounges

from opening, I still sometimes have thoughts of opening some sort of "semi private" club.

With the proper financial backing, I think I could make it happen. Any takers?

anybody?.........
