This is an abbreviated review because I am not gonna waste my time (and yours) on this.

Trinidad Robusto Extra OIK OCT04. I smoked a 3 pack of these within about a year of getting them and was so unimpressed that I vowed to bury them and not smoke them for as long as I could hold out in the hope of some semblence of improvement.

The cigars were bland, no complexity and dissapointing.

Fast forward almost 4 1/2 years from box date and I decided to try one.

Well they did improve from pretty much nothing to smokeable. They are kind of how I imagine cigarette smoking must be as I do not and have never smoked ciggies. :lookaround:

Actually stright tobac flavor with some ever so slight nuances of nuts and maybe a little vanilla can be noticed out of about the first half of these things. Otherwise straight tobacco. Not unsmokeable or anything but I dont see how these things will ever improve to the point of being something I would actually buy regularly.

So I am gonna burn them where appropriate! I like the size. The wrappers have some oil to them and the cigars are well packed. What the hell did the blenders think they were doing with this cigar.

I have heard a few decent reviews of current production but it would have to get a boat load of sterling reviews for me to even think about buying one. Frankly I doubt this is possible.

It's rather interesting to hear of quite a few less than favorable impressions here of the Robusto Extra, seeing how it had always maintained a top 3 spot on top25 cigar when it was still breathing.

I have not tried it due to its cost and weirdness, but the other 3 vitolas are fantastic.

I have been a fan of the Trinidad brand since the first time i tried one back in 2006. Having only tried the Coloniales and the Robusto Extra (i too was never blown away by this one) i decided to take the chance and order a cab of the Reyes. Im not the greatest reviewer and my palate is still developing. So please bear with me.

Trinidad Reyes

40 x 110 (4.3")

LPM ABR 08

This cigar was beautifully constructed with a colorado wrapper and an intact pigtail. Despite its young age this stick was already showing slight plume. After clipping the head and testing the draw i was pleased. Perfect.

Prelight aroma was also very nice, fresh tobacco and some floral notes.

Upon lighting up i was greeted with the all to familiar taste and aroma you can only get from Trinidad. Woody with a slight spice to it, along with some nutty and floral flavors as well. What i found odd was just how floral this cigar was. Dare i say perfumy? It was quite pleasant and something i hadn't experienced before.

Burn was rock solid the entire way only needing 1 touch up but not a single relight. A good solid 45 - 60 min. Overall i was very pleased with my first Trinidad Reyes and was happy i bought a cab.

Trinidad Coloniales

44 x 132 (5.2")

OUR MAY 08

The construction was perfect. Smooth, dark brown wrapper with tiny veins and another intact pigtail. Very consistent.

The draw on this one was to my liking as was the taste. Woody, nutty, touch of leather and spice. Again has that Trinidad taste profile. Its very unique.

Another great cigar. No complaints whatsoever.

No pics of this one, sorry.
