jdbrown Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 My cousin went #49 to the Seahawks. Was hoping for an AFC team to pick him up. looks like I will be rooting for Seattle unless he get dealt!
puros71 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Congrats on the pick. They also got a sick LB with Currey. My Raiders made horrible picks. I think Al Davis is getting crazier every year.
Northshore04 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Congrats on the Seahawk pick. They could be interesting in a few years. What's your cousins' name and what position does he play? But I'm a big Charger fan. Unfortunately, I think their window to win it all is closing and I don't really see their draft putting them over the top this year. Merriman and LT both coming back at full strength will definitely help though. Still probably not enough.
jdbrown Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Max Unger out of Oregon. Played center mostly last year but was a four year starter and played other line positions. I had heard the Steelers were looking at him at#32 but went with Ziggy Hood from Missouri.
jdbrown Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Puros you are right..Al Davis is losing his pan! Jimmy the Jets had a good draft getting sanchez and the running back from Iowa

And even though Seattle is now in the NFC, they did start off in the AFC.
SporkD2 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Been a huge seahawks fan my whole life. I live near st louis and try to get to the seahawks/rams game every year
BobLobLaw Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Congrats on your cousin, thats pretty freaking awesome! Al Davis is out of his mind. He would draft a grayhound in the first round because it would be the fastest player EVER! Bears did well overall. Heard a rumor that Angelo made a play for Bolden, but Arizona refused after Cleveland took Robinski. Too bad as that would have been amazing. Many of you have probably seen this, but its pretty impressive. Jarron Gilbert, the Bears first pick (3rd round) Check it out.
ksblazer Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Yep. My Dad has had Season tickets since 1982 and I've been going with him since 1984. Been through some good times and seen the rough times as well. I'm really excited about the Hawks draft and was glued to the TV over the weekend watching it. Initially I wanted the Hawks to draft a LT to replace Walter Jones in the future. Then they traded Julian Peterson and I wanted the Hawks to get Aaron Curry. I still felt the needed o-line help and was happy to see them make a trade with the broncos to get their no.1 pick next year and then trade up to get Max Unger. He's been a 3 or 4 year starter and team captain at oregon. Played Tackle and Guard there so he's versitile. But from what I hear he will start out at guard. But If Chris Spencer dosen't perform as expected he may end up being our center of the future. I also hop the WR they got from Penn State will make a good contribution as the Hawks can really use a speedy receiver to stretch the oposing teams defense and make big plays for long yardage.
Digi Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hell yeah! I live in downtown Seattle. This is going to be a great season! Your cousin will love it out here, this city is a great place to be "well known" in; cool people, great spots, amazing views. Go Hawks!
purosdave Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 The Seahawks did great at the draft and I am excited to watch them this year after such a let down last season. We have a great group of linebackers and our OL is much better with Unger who could play any of the positions (center is highly doubtful). We also got a gift from Denver in their first pick next year so we should be good to go for a few years. Now if we can just get a good backup QB for when Matt decides to retire...
phxkev Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 SHEhawks will go nowhere with Jim Mora Jr. as coach. I went to high school with him. He got lucky his last name is Mora. Otherwise he would be asking if you wanted fries with that Big Mac. He did nothing at Atlanta or as a coordinator in SF. He wanted the University of Washington job, not the SHEhawk job. I give him three years, max. GO NINERS!
