sansei Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Ken, Do you mean Konnyaku? If so, Konnyaku is a gelatin like food made from the flour of a lily-like plant called Konjac. Relatively tasteless on it's own, it does a good job of absorbing the flavor of the liquids it is cooked in. Used often in dishes such as sukiyaki or oden.

Ken Gargett Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 I also watched that show last night. That's all I've got. obviously very different but, to an outsider, seems to perform a similar role, re picking up other flavours, as does shark fin. though i wish it would be banned.

Ken Gargett Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 not sure what happened there. tried to say to yoss and sensai, but not coming up on mine, was that had family holidaying in japan last couple of weeks - they brought me back some green tea from the very first leaves of the season. it really does take tea to a new level in my limited experience.
