Van55 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I shipped off an email to Smithy advising him that a shipment sent out on 2 April was received on my desk today -- must be record time for air mail from OZ to the USA! I get back a canned reply from Rob advising that the Czar House is closed for the Easter Holidays until Tuesday, 14 April. Lazy wankers, one and all. Who else is taking a four day holiday this weekend? Oh, and Happy Easter to all who celebrate it.

Ken Gargett Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 absolutely everything shuts down on easdter friday. some papers don't even print. it is a four day break (i think one state might make it five). taken very seriously here (holidays, not religion). i remember when i worked in the states and i said to the guys on the thursday evening that i'd see them tuesday, they all wantd to know why. could not believe america didn't take it.

I hate to say it...but when it comes to holidays, the U.S. is the pitts. Its one of the few things I dislike about living in the states. Everything has to be about making a buck. Sure, the trains run on time, but life is not just about being efficient. Though i'm kind of talking out of my ass since I have the whole week off (I'm a teacher). But still.

The 4 days gives us just enough time to catch up with family and friends, to reflect and to take it easy. It is my favourite holiday of the year partly due to its religious significance, partly due to the mild weather and very much to do so with catching up with my brothers and their families.

Maybe that luck will change tomorrow! This is not an industry you bring in extra people for the "holiday season". The people used need to be specialists. We don't talk about shipping on FOH. That is for PM. There is no scope for leniency on this rule.
