Robustos are probably my favorite size. What are some newer robustos that are smoking great? I like the Bolivar RC's, but was dissapointed with the JL #2 I smoked last week and the RASS was not much better. They must need some age. Also, with all the hype about the Cohibas, I have never smoked one which afterwards I thought, wow! Though in all fairness, I have not smoked very many of them, but I really want to be "wowed" by the Cohiba robusto. What other robustos are really smoking well? Thanks!

Left info below this question was ask not to long ago their is a great tool here called a ( search ) i have used it many times and my questions were quickly answered.

Maybe the Bolivar RC and Juan Lopez #2 you had were just duds a cigar does not need age to be good one of the biggest fairy tales going. Also maybe it was to moist and hurt the flavors making it a disappointing smoke.

A young cigar should always have good flavor and should have a very good aged flavor profile down the road.

Robusto's smoking good with consistency are PSD4 Excellant ,Bolivar RC excellant !!! both work horse's always getting the job done.. Also forgot the R&J SC excellant cigar alot of complex flavors and so good for such a young cigar wont be aging the box i have.

Down below is a link on this from a couple of weeks ago ...

What those guys said.

Constant champions:

PSD4, Cohiba Robusto, and one of my personal favorites: Hoyo De Monterrey #2. All three are regulars for me.

Wildcard: SLR Regios. Give them a shot, they're constantly overlooked as a good robusto.

Kev, I still have half a box of '07 D4's if you'd like a try...

That would be awesome! I'm sure that we can work something out. I have about 1/2 a box left of the HDM Epicure #2's and have not been impressed with them I got them last year from CZAR. I keep thinking they will get better.

I am going to have to get a second job to pay for the cigars that I keep ordering. ;)

thats funny - I have a Epi#2 with me to smoke on the way home - havent been in that box for a while - if I like it

I'll take the rest off yer hands and replace them with something you like so you dont have to get that second job!

I am unabashedly a CoRo Ho!

Two in particular wowed me. One was two summers ago when I was having a nightcap CoRo and from the onset I would back away, look at it and muse, “This is one fine cigar.” The other was just two weeks ago when the weather warmed enough to enjoy the annual spring return of the CoRos. It was full bodied with coffee and cream and this time chock full of a fresh nuance of honey.

Yes, CoRos top my list , first behind the ’06 LE’s!

have to agree. the 08 we did in the vid recently was terrific but i had a 2000 the other night which was truly spectacular. will post a review as soon as a bit of time.

Damn, I really want to smoke a good CoRo, I guess that I will have to keep trying. I have only tried about three though and two were from Canada. I still have one left from the Xmas sampler. The other was unimpressive about 8 months ago.

I try not to smoke young cigars at all, which makes it difficult for me to answer your question.

Having said that, there are some Robustos that I would definitely NOT buy to smoke young becuase they improve so much with age, including: Cohiba, Choix Supreme, H. Upmann Connoisseur #1.

I agree.

The Cohiba I dont have a lot of experience with. The Choix Supreme and Upmann do indeed need time but they are not really what I like.

PSD#4, JL Sel #2, Boli RC, RASS (which improves greatly with time I think), RyJ Ex 4 are all ones that I like. Also the VR Famosos.

Enjoying Fresh RASS currently. The quality is consistently high. There is a sweetness about young tobacco in the RASS. CORO Young can also be great but it is a batch to batch proposition. Ht the right one and KABAM!....you remember why you fell in love with them.

absolutely. see my notes in the "friends pictures" forum. imho, the most consistant box-to-box cigar in production.
