Ken Gargett Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 i saw some of the guys chatting re tea, i think especially green tea - think this must have been in the shoutbox. i saw yoss mentioned that ITO EN was a major japanese company. by coincidence, i happened to catch a doco which had a section looking at green tea in australia. it is being grown/made in central nsw and also the king valley in victoria (once a major tobacco growing district). the company in king valley is ITO EN, one of only two factories outside japan - the other being in china. one of the attractions is that the seasonal aspect allows us to grow the prized stuff (post winter crop, i believe) when japan is growing lesser quality - apparently. the manager from ITO EN was saying that he believed that in 5 to 10 years, with experience etc, aussie green tea will be at least as good as that from japan. it is also much cheaper to produce.
yossie Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I don't care where It grows. I don't often drink their tea. Bottled tea is convinient but not so tasty.
