sounddust Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I'm also surprised that the Partagas box only managed to fetch about 1/2 of the Hoyo's.
Guest rob Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 How is that even possible?Wilkey I'm thinking its not.
sounddust Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I'm thinking its not. I was a tad incredulous too but seeing how it was auctioned at the Habanos Festival; I see the plausibility of it.
sounddust Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Beginning to understand the prices... just look at that Trinidad humidor! http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/html/images/09festival6.jpg http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/html/images/09festival4.jpg
DocRKS Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I'm with Wilkey on this one... at 1st glance - something seems just wrong.... There HAS to be more to this story - these prices just don't make sense...
Jimmy2 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Yes they are works of art ...Hand made furniture just beautiful and rare and one of a kind for the big players who say look what I have club. Just like a rare hand made American chair from the late 1700 made out of Philidlaphia or Boston fetch $30,000 to $90,000 and thats a single chair at auction.Do you think thats worth the money not me but they go for that much. So its justifiable these works of art out of Cuba will demand those prices.Hey they even come with cigars. You have to understand look at the detail these were most likely done by hand which is a dyeing art.
sounddust Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I've noticed that the RyJ humidors have beenpretty bog-standard, with a 3D balcony scene as its focal point. Trinidad's architectural humidors are always a work of art though.
Jimmy2 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Just works of art ....If we were all FILTY RICH we would be spending this kind of money to on these we all have the sickness. So others have it a little more than us well just a little.

Habanos2000 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe these are the little gifts Rob was talking about picking up for the gang?
demiurgic Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe these are the little gifts Rob was talking about picking up for the gang? wonder if Orchant bought those or just took a picture with them. If he did, it only says that he'd sell it for more. Crazy right?
sounddust Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 According to James Suckling's blog, most of the buyers were from the Far East. I'm guessing the usual suspects. I'll keep an eye out for more adventures of Nino.
sounddust Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Gentlemen, we have your winners... http://www.cigarcyclopedia.com/webapp/content/view/1392/27/
Coloniales Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 The Cohiba example was purchased by Imperial Tobacco, like they always do. The Hoyo humidor was bought by Mohebi in Dubai, 3 were bought by Chinese gents, the H Upmann by Pacific Cigar. The Partagas was a pretty ugly example, and most thought this the reason why the poor price. Still the most money raised ever, not bad in these tough times. Keith
sounddust Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Keith, any idea on why the Romeos had the copious amounts of wine thrown in?
Coloniales Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Not sure on that one, but the Spanish Torres group threw it in with the lot. I think the young Chinese gent got this lot. Keith
