A shore town here in New Jersey has put forth a resolution in the legislature to BAN all smoking from the boardwalk and the beach.... You know - the beach - where the ocean and waves meet the shore and where a constant wind blows.....the town council of Belmar has determined that my sitting outside at such a location and smoking my cigar presents a health risk to all others.....but just to complete the 'up yours' action - if a cop stops you for violating this ordanance - you get 2 tickets ---- the 2nd ticket is for littering !!!!! Doc....my town, Brick, banned smoking on the beach 2 years ago!...so did Pt. Pleasant & Seaside Heights I think.

If memory serves correctly, I think Belmar was one of the last bastions of hope for smokers because of all the kids going there for the Summer.

What's worst than the towns are the beach goers themselves. I tried to be sneaky and lit up a cigar on the beach in my town last Summer and a lady almost accosted me...saying I was giving her kids cancer with the 2nd hand smoke...in a stiff 30MPH wind! She stood next to me shouting to the lifeguard to have me arrested....and she was a day tripper....LOL. Same thing in Giants Stadium, a visiting Philadelphia Eagles fan pointed me out to stadium security for lighting up a cigar at the Dallas game...the rest of the season ticket holders almost killed the guy for doing it.

Outdoor smoking bans really confuse me....indoors I get....but outdoors?

I know I'm new around here but this topic really gets my goat. The anti-smoking hysteria has gone so far that its just nonsensical. Last week the little woman and I had some friends over for dinner. We were sitting on our back porch and I was enjoying a Habano, while we were talking. My neighbor (this is totally true) who had to have been 35 yards away stuck his head over the 6 foot high cinder block wall which divides our properties, and asked me to put out my cigar. He said "the smell was bothering him" and that "I should be more considerate of where I let my second hand smoke go because it causes cancer". How anyone can make the claim that a citizens cig or cigar (outside) produces more carcinogens or any other harmful matter, than the thousands of cars, industrial factories, A/C units, etc. is beyond me. Admittedly I'm no scientist or expert on the effects of second hand smoke, but its just gone too far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry guys, I just needed to get that off my chest)

To make it short and simple they are F'in Jerkoff's.....

Last week i went out to eat in the city with my friend than we went to Cigar Inn .

As i am smoking outside a girl and her geeky boy friend gives me a dirty look city poo poo heads.

So i say What the F are you looking at hope you like the smoke its really nice outside tonite.

I really dont go off like that but give me a f'in break its outside and the dirty looks thats what really set me off.

Oh and they said nothing as i gave them a peace of my mind next time i hope they mind them selves when someone is smoking a cigar OUTSIDE !!!!

Its like some of these people with their dirty looks make you feel as if your doing something really bad and when doing something i like i dont want to feel that.

Inside smoking i can understand too but outside never!!!!

Here is my story. This is a true story,I repeat, TRUE STORY.

In 2004, with 11 club members of our cigar club, we went to Cuba and In Havana, we

visited the HAVANA CLUB FONDATION and RUM MUSEUM. We signed up for the visit of the

Rum Museum and while we were waiting for the tour, we went to the BEAUTIFUL bar on the

ground floor to have a FEW Mojitos and also light up a few great smokes, which by the way,

was allowed inside the bar. About 1 hour & a half later, a person from the Museum came and

told us thet the tour would start in 10 mins. He asked us not to smoke inside the Museum and

of course, we found that totally normal, so we let our cigars die out before getting on the Q .

While we were on the waiting line, a French woman tourist looked behind her and saw me with

my unlite cigar in my mouth, started to make a face and waving her hands in front said " OMG,

a smelly cigar" And with all my friends there, who heard her, I looked her straight in the eyes

and anserwed back in French, " Look woman, you can have that stupid look on your face and make

the same remark anywhere else in the world, except here in Cuba, so, If you don't like it, GET OUT."

After that, all she did was to move up a little on the Q and once inside, stayed away from us the whole time. But the funny part of this story was the guy, who works at the museum and who saw the whole thing but did not understand French, passed by inside and gave me a wink of the eye. cool :D

I think that I would fill a 55 gallon drum with steer manure, and position it next to my neighbor's yard. When the wind was right, I'd douse it with kerosene and set it ablaze. When he came out to complain, I'd tell him in no uncertain terms to shut up, because "the smoke isn't second-hand, and there is no research to indicate that burning manure causes cancer".

Good for you! Wish I could have seen the look on her face myself! :D

I think an appropriate response would have been "screw you". :D

So it was you! I was telling my wife, "This guy looks familiar." After the outburst, I said, "Naw, must not have been him. Jimmy's real polite." :lookaround:
