Wiley Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 The wooden box of ten doesn't have a date code. I believe it was sometime in 2000. This is a very long and thin cigar (~7 inches and 28 RG). It requires patience. I like to think of it as requiring both a sunny day and sunny disposition. Anyway, it is nothing but mild. There's no pepper here. It has a core of hay and sweetness. I find it has some complexity, by which I mean the way I think the sweetness changes throughout, mostly honey, but sometimes almost toasted marshmallow. And, occasionally, wheat and nutty flavors come through (more like a graham cracker, for those who know what that is.) Most of these are subtle, so even though it may seem like I was describing desert, I don't want to scare you off. The burn and draw of all of these that I have smoked have been perfect.
BigSlick Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I have a box of these from 00' as well. All have drawed flawlessly. Smoked one yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. The ring gauge of this cigar forces you to slow down and really take your time with it. Great review. TD
Headbanger Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Thanks for the review. The box code on these are on the cardboard outer box, not on the varnished box.
soltino Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I've bought about 6 boxes of these from the Czar's aged list. Everytime there is a sale I slip a box of these in to the order as well. I think these are great cigars, the skinniest of the skinnies. Excellent draw, very floral and nutty flavours with no harshness in them at all. The only problem with them is that because they are sooo thin, you really do need to slow down when you smoke these, exactly as Wiley says. This is no bad thing though, as it lets you savour the fruits of 8/9 years of aging in optimum conditions It will be a real shame if these get the axe as has been mentioned on several threads now Thanks for the review and pictures Wiley!
