SamuraiJack Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Was playing some Hold'em last night with friends and lit up a Bolivar Petite Corona. I need to remember that: Great cigars + Poker = Lose Your Money The Boli PC was spot on and demanding all of my senses and attention, making it impossible to focus on the game. Absolutely perfect draw, like pulling a silk scarf through a glass tube (ok thats weird). Flavors so balanced and refined. I could go on. It is incredible to me how something as relatively simple as smoking a cigar can become such a rich experience in of itself. Lots of people use cigars to enhance other things they are going, as do I, but with a great cigar how can you do anything else while it demands all of your senses?

Though I rarely smoke with friends, when I do, the cigar is always complimentary to the company. On the whole, I smoke alone, and agree that a great cigar is a little journey in and of itself.

aavkk Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I love smoking alone, especially great cigars. Its part of the reason why I dont enjoy smoking on the golf course, too much to think about and do. Just give me a comfortable chair. That being said having cigars with good company certainly adds to the experience.
El Presidente Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Love cigars and poker and cigars and fishing and cigars and just about anything ....excluding Golf. With Poker and Fishing somehow the cigar becomes part me as if giving councel. I will often talk to it

Chicago Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 For me, the cigar can and often is more satisfying than the game. Certainly more predictable. But it adds to the excitement of the game as well, especially firing them up with buddies prior to the first deal of the tournament. That's living!

It's like the 1st girl you moved in with at College..... For the 1st few semesters, she got ALL your attention and focus when it was time for bed....... By the time you were in your 3rd year...you were able to both keep her happy...and catch up with all the sports scores on the 11PM TV nightly newscast as well..... As I said, "You will Learn....."

As I said, "You will Learn....." an old girlfriend from years ago would allow two minutes a day to focus on sports. then it was taboo. i was surprised that things lasted as long as they did (must have been a time when our teams were not doing well).

I will often talk to it i always take some decent cigars on any river when i go trout fishing but almost inevitably bring them home untouched. just never get the time - enjoy the fishing too much to stop and will have one back after. beach fishing a bit different. easier to enjoy one after a session there.
