I caught a nasty cold around New Years, so this was actually my first cigar in 2009. As much as I like snowy Black Forest, Skiing and so forth, there is something to be said for warmer climates...

Anyway, the Bolivar Petit Corona has been a constant personal favorite of mine, since I got into Cuban cigars and is one of these cigars without which I feel my Humidor is incomplete. Upon lighting up it immediatly proved why. First puff and the Bolivar flavour was there. No warm up phase, spices, earthy tones, bit of leather and this delightful citrus note in the background. Not a whole lot of development going into the second third, but no need for it either. Leather becoming a bit more prominent, nutty flavours here and there, citrus continuing. More of the delicious same also in the last third. Some burn problems, that I don't really care for as they didn't interfere with the flavour delivery. No bitterness or tarry flavours as I nub this specimen, but I had moved from medium to full bodied to a full bodied cigar in the last third. This disqualifies it as a beginners cigar, but I'd recommend this smoke to people that want to get into Cuban cigars, because it has this distinct characteristic that I can't describe other than 'cubanesque'. You know immediately what the hype is all about and that it is justified.

Speaking about hypes and thinking about the recent discussion around the "Boly Fat boys", it got me into the heretical thought that if Habanos was to keep this exact blend, modify the size slightly and put an extra RE/LE band on these, I guess people wouldn't complain paying triple the price these go for and still wouldn't complain, because these are just great smokes now and have obvious aging potential. Don't wont to give them any ideas though.

To me, the Bolivar PC is like the mailman - it always delivers. I agree that this cigar can have some serious umph,

and should not be taken lightly.

Yes, imagine a Bolivar PC Seleccion Reserva......

Thanks for the review.

Great review

Like a football team you need a healthy sprinkling of workers in the humidor. Those cigars which just perform without needing nor receiving the Kudos. Boli PC is one of these.

What I would very muck like to see is a Bolivar Carlota (Connoisseur No 3)

This great review reminds me that I havent had one of these little gems for almost half a year...

The Boli PC was the first complete box of Cuban cigars that I bought. After trying one at Robs recomendation I coughed up for a box. I have not been without this cigar in the humidor since. As far as I am concerned this in the Mareva that all others have to compare to.

The BPC used to be one of my favorites. Then I discovered the Coronas Extras & they have something...extra.

Thanks for the review.

One of my favorite PCs. :2thumbs:

I am almost out of my 03s, and my 07s are still a little too tannic for my taste. <_<

Good thing I have plenty of other favorites to reach for until they come around. :P

But I will really miss them in the interim.

Haven't smoked one in a while, really got into the PLPCs. But after reading this excellent review I'll have to fire one up the next time it gets a little warmer around here. The ones I've had in the past from a cab (POS MAY06) were very good.

These are good. In fact, Bolivars with the code POS MAR 07 have been good to me in General. I have some CE's with that code that are tasty already, with more time they'll be even better. I don't have any BPCs anymore, so I'll have to put it on the list.

POS JUN 06 cab still resting. Reading this makes me want to crack that cab and dig in. Alas, I know I will be rewarded the longer I wait. Thank you for the review.
