Didn't Tooheys ask the goverment to make a a public holiday? The funny thing is, if I remember correctly, CEO of tooheys wasn't going to give all their workers the day off, because they had to provide the beverages for the day

Oh, and I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about the Cup, or horse racing in general. How 'bout I just pick the one with the coolest name? :-P

The Diva won for the 3rd year on the trot. History is made and thank Christ I decided not to drop 500 bucks on a horse called bloody Distinction who didn't even make a place. Great bloody tip that one.

» glad I only outlayed $7 in the office sweep...none of mine came in!

Bad Luck Sammy,

I got a good tip (boy x, nephew of a certain horse trainer who shall remain anonymous goes to my school;-) ) headed to Melbourne today, & even though I don't normally bet on anything I thought a cheeky pineapple ($50AUD) would be a good go on the Diva.

Didn't even see the race, but the call on the radio was superb, so now I can afford to pay Rob for the cigars I ordered yesterday!!!:ok:

She's a good horse, but still not quite a Phar Lap (he was from NZ remember:yes: )

In which direction do the horses run around the track Down Under - here on the East Coast USA - it is COUNTERCLOCKWISE... I attended a few horse races in the UK - and there they ran CLOCKWISE....so how is it in the land of Oz?

Counter-clockwise in Melbourne. And just to confuse things, clockwise in Sydney. :-D

Just got home from the cup :surprised:

All tips failed bar La Bella Mer which racked up her 5th win in a row for owner and FOH member Peter Byrne.....Well done PJ! Hell 11 starts 6 wins and 2 placings is not bad :lol2:

Melbourne Cup here in Australia today and the local FOH boys are heading to the track (a sight to behold). Yes...it is essentially a public holiday here today...no-one works past 10am and although every track in Australia has a full race card, all eyes are on one of the great races of the world: The 3200m Melbourne Cup at 3pm

Let me put my gonads on the line:Aussie boys...feel free to do the same:

Melbourne Cup Race 7

$100 each Way Leica Falcon

$100 each Way Eye Popper

Brisbane Race 1 Eagle Farm

$100 Win La Bella Mer

Now La Bella Mer is owned by local FOH member and great mate Peter Byrne. Bella has won 4 of her last 5 starts. She has had 10 starts for 5 Wins 2 seconds and 2 Thirds.

Not bad :-P
