Evening all,

I introduced myself a few weeks back and then kinda disappeared. Seeing as how I know nothing about Cubans, I was hoping to get your expertise on which ones have the most spice to them (peppery spice as opposed to ginger/nutmeg spice). To give an example from the non-Cuban world, I really like the Rocky Patel Sun Grown, Tatuaje Brown, and Pepin Blue/Black labels.

Thanks for any insight!

I find many Havanas exhibit pepper as an element, though probably not at the levels you are looking for.

Having said that, an RyJ Churchill (I believe '05) I smoked this past year showed quite a bit of black pepper,

becoming almost unbearably so toward the end.

Ramon Allones and Partagas. RA Specially Selected, RA Small Club Coronas, P 898.

Hmm, that could explain why I've enjoyed the few Cubans I have tried so far! Thanks for the info.

In my limited experience anything RyJ. Just finished an Exibition No 4 on the drive home that was definitely peppery in a well balanced sense. Had a Short Churchill last week that wanted to blow my sinuses away with the black pepper finish...

My thought too. The Ryj X4´s I´ve smoked were all peppery. Some to the point were it almost was too much but others has been really enjoyable.

I think lots of Partagas are peppery.

Many RyJ may work too.

There are plenty of individual examples from other brands:

I have H.Upmann #2's from 1997 I bought in the UK. They are peppery. Most Upmann would not be peppery. I have not had a recent #2.

I have recent Cohiba Robustos which exhibit pepper in the middle of the smoke.

I think this person might like RA, but I am not sure I would say most of the Ramone Allones I have had really had pepper -maybe a young Estupendo would.

There are a fair few. Some of my favourite Peppery cigars

Partagas 898 Varnished

Cohiba Siglo IV

Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3

Romeo y Julieta Cazadores

Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion no 3 (and sometimes No 4...though I pick up a sweeter profile).

Cuaba Divinos

Well I guess I'll just have them all then! Damn... :)

Thanks for all the input everybody. It's a little overwhelming at first, and I really have no idea where to start. Guess I should just jump in head-first.

The last Quai D'Orsay Imperiales that I smoked (and reviewed here) stunned me with its dominant cayenne pepper notes on my tongue and through my nose.

Of course the Partagas marca is noted for peppery spices generally.

Great list Rob, but i am surprised the Partagas D4 was not at or near the the top? I guess I have not smoked a good D4 in a few years (the 898 V and Serie du conn's are my favs) but I always remembered the D4 has having loads of pepper & spice. Has that changed with recent production?

I'm a pepper and spice guy too and I found the Upman, Magnum 50 to have it fair share. Really delish!

I just smoke the first 2008 French RE Especial de Allones and it was the most spicy cigar I have every tried. All the way to the end. Tremendous.
